In the latest news from normal island, a video has emerged of a man attacking a worker removing a flag:

These lot will seriously hurt someone over a flag. pic.twitter.com/27mQmIIDYP

Clearly this a very appropriate response to a guy who’s just doing his job, and not a sign racists have been driven into a frothing mania by politicians and journalists.

“Fucking hell”: man attacks worker removing flag

The video opens with the man filming saying “fucking hell”. To begin with, the attacker is lightly molesting the ladder, but things quickly take a turn when he begins shaking it about. “It’s a madness” the cameraman says in response.

At this point, the ladder goes sideways and the worker does his best to drop safely to the ground. Simultaneously, a third man runs across the road shouting “calm down” at the attacker. This third man nearly gets run over, by the way, demonstrating the chaos which ensues when you take it upon yourself to act as the snake to some worker’s ladder.

There’s a confrontation between the worker and his racist attacker at the end of the video, but it’s impossible to tell who’s saying what. The man filming once again exclaims “fucking hell”. People online have had similar reactions:

I’m not racist or far right just patriotic. Anyway let me almost kill a council worker over a flag https://t.co/rSvLK5wiyn

A decent, law abiding British Patriot attempting to kill a council worker. Nice one. https://t.co/sRED8go7hY

Everyone has lost their minds. If you want to put up a flag, good luck to you. Put it up on your own private property. Or get official permission. https://t.co/8oH9bhKv8N

We’ve not been able to confirm that the man in question worked for the council; we’ve also not confirmed reports he wasn’t even taking down the flag. We have have seen instances of the far right supporting the action, anyway, such as this from racist Britain First co-leader Ashlea Simon:

He was putting a camera up to monitor the bus lane – looks like your hero is going back to jail.

Your promise is interesting – 500 for every one taken down?

The 10 put up on Prestwood Road on Thursday were taken down Friday morning.

That’s 5000 flags you owe Salford 😳 pic.twitter.com/I2gUFAAp6S

She’s deleted the original tweet, but don’t worry, she’ll still get the pints in for any goon willing to put workers at risk:

Tweet which reads: "Just to be crystal clear I support everyone who opposes council workers/ liberal retards taking down our flags. I deleted my original post as I don’t want to help get anyone into trouble. But, I will buy the man in question many a pint when I see him. We need more bold British lions who will defend their flag and their nation 💪🏻🇬🇧"

She’s not the only one encouraging this sort of things either:

Laurence Fox posted this video of his followers hurling abuse at council workers removing flags from over busy roads because they are a crash hazard.

Utterly despicable behaviour. pic.twitter.com/1JCXTvZpBm

Flag panic

To be clear, we’re oddly in agreement with the racists that this country has gone to shit. The difference is we understand our quality of life has declined because successive governments have sold our assets to foreign investors and wealthy layabouts (the most recent example being Keir Starmer’s £90bn deal with ‘vulture capitalists’ Blackstone). You could put up a million flags, it still won’t undo the damage to public infrastructure caused by utility, health, and travel conglomerates siphoning money off to shareholders while the system crumbles.

It’s not just the above worker who has faced issues, with GB News covering that a “Council worker taking down England flags ‘doesn’t want to come into work tomorrow’ after being heckled for doing his job“. To be fair, some workers do need to be heckled; we just think they’re sitting in fancy offices in the City of London.

Havering Council has reported staff being “racially abused” and “assaulted”. Is there ever any justification for that? One councillor said:

Nobody should use patriotism as an opportunity or an excuse to spread hate.

Using patriotism to justify racist hatred isn’t a novel concept, and it always gets worse when people have nothing to feel positive about. The country going to shit while politicians of both parties use immigrants as scapegoats is a bad mix. Oh, and if you’re wondering what this has to do with flags:

HOPE not hate can reveal that the co-founder and organiser of the [flag raising campaign] is longtime Stephen Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson) ally Andrew Currien (AKA Andy Saxon). Formerly a key member of the English Defence League’s leadership bodyguard team, and now running security for the far-right party Britain First, Currien has previously been jailed for his part in a racist death. He was one of six men convicted in 2009 after a 59-year-old man was crushed to death by a car following a violent brawl.

Duopoly

At the Canary, we have no problem with people from foreign countries coming to live in the UK; we do have a problem with people feeling they need to come here because the West has destabilised their home. People should have the right to migrate, but they should also have the pleasure to live in their country of origin free from invasion or interference.

The sad thing is it isn’t some weird accident that both Labour and the Tories have increased migration despite their insistence it causes problems. We live in a system that functions very much like a pyramid scheme, and this system requires a surplus of young workers at the bottom. As we’re an ageing country with a declining birth rate, we need to bring in workers into our economy to ensure we still have an economy (that or consider the heretical notion of abandoning neoliberalism, of course).

You’ll note the politicians targeting migration aren’t explaining how they’ll solve this contradiction. That’s because they’re political chancers, and they’re taking us all for mugs.

But anyway, getting back to the video, please do not injure, maim, or kill your local workers because you’re a stinking racist.

It really isn’t going to make your life better, and neither is following Tommy Robinson or the shithouses surrounding him.
