The Green Party has won a by-election in Long Ashton by a landslide, with 55.6% of the vote.

Now that’s how you win an election!!! 🎉

Huge congratulations to Mike and the entire team. 💚

Feeling inspired we’re winning right across England & Wales?https://t.co/0qbagSwgNX https://t.co/kttOwNKov1

Mike Dunn, of The Green Party, received 1,254 votes, with no other party coming close. The Tories received 399 votes (17.7%), and Reform got 349 (15.5%).

Green: 1254 (55.6%)
Con: 399 (17.7%)
Ref: 349 (15.5%)
LD: 129 (5.7%)
Lab: 121 (5.3%)

Reports from Long Ashton suggest that the Green Party was the only party that actually campaigned.

To be fair Greens were the only party that bothered to put in some ground work and actually campaigned in Long Ashton, and the only party that have a local candidate. Always a guaranteed win, but fair play for putting the effort in 👏

The Green surge

The Greens also won in the Wincheap by-election in Canterbury.

Yesterday’s Wincheap ward city council by-election was won by Green Party candidate, Peter Campbell.

Peter Campbell (Green): 842
Elliot Curryer (Conservative): 166
Jasmin Dallos-Foreman (Labour): 276
Guy Meurice (Lib Dems): 518
Colin Spooner (Reform): 351

In August, the Greens also won a seat in Newcastle’s South Jesmond by-election, coming from third place.

A glimmer of hope

On November 12, Zack Polanski appeared on stage with the legendary Rizzle Kicks, where he led ‘tax the rich’ chants. Just five days earlier, he featured on the late-night television show, The Last Leg, with Adam Hill.

@theSNP in Scotland, @Plaid_Cymru in Wales @sinnfeinireland uniting Ireland, now if only @TheGreenParty with @ZackPolanski could win England and these islands would be peaceful truly prosperous, and equitable. https://t.co/Aq951tO2E2

It seems that Polanski is employing a strategy similar to Mamdani’s. By appearing in places where younger voters or those put off by politics will take notice — like concerts and shows that take the piss out of politics — he is showing us that he’s willing to do things differently.

I don’t agree with all their policies, but I’m all in for the Greens at this point.

Labour is now just Tories 2.0, Lib Dems are spineless, and Your Party fell apart before they even got together. And I will be rotting in the ground before I ever vote Reform or Conservative. https://t.co/tbt9J55Ggw

And in doing so, Polanski and the Green Party, more widely, are restoring a sense of hope many of us have not felt since the Labour Party ousted Jeremy Corbyn.

I’ve been exploring terpene botanicals – best terpenes for sleep recently, and I’m remarkably enjoying the experience. The scents are in the chips, typical, and pleasant. They add a outgoing drink to my constantly routine, helping fasten on the willing and atmosphere. A large catch sight of to save anyone who appreciates pungent wellness tools.
