Green Party raises more in a day than they did in six months

On 28 November, the Green Party released a video in collaboration with Canary colleague Cody Dahler:

Hope is here.

Help us beat Reform in May. Donate today ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/ww9eg3yEeT

— The Green Party (@TheGreenParty) November 28, 2025

The pantomime-inspired video was designed to do two things:

  • Unveil the Greens’ new slogan.
  • Kickstart a fundraising drive to beat Reform in the May elections.

Sadly, however, it looks like we’re not going to get a Christmas miracle:

Wait a minute, that tweet was sarcastic, wasn’t it; the Greens are actually smashing it.

Green Party—’Hope alone won’t win’

In the video above, it’s said that ‘Make Hope Normal Again’ is now a dated slogan. While it’s still a perfectly good bit of rhetoric, the Greens are right to note that it doesn’t reflect the success the party has had in the past few months. With that in mind, here’s the new slogan:

Hope is Here.

On the Crowdfunder page they’ve set up, Polanski writes:

It’s my first Christmas as Leader of the Green Party, and I have one wish: for us to turn the momentum we’ve all felt in the last few months into wins in May’s local elections.

Since September, the party has reached new heights. Our membership has more than doubled, we’re polling level with the government, and we’re cutting through in the media and shaping the national narrative more than ever before.

But hope alone won’t win elections, we need cash to turn our incredible momentum into election wins.

The great news is – we’ve proven that we know what it takes to win. Quadrupling our councillors and MPs in recent years.

But scaling up to seize this moment, challenge an unpopular Labour Government and take the fight to Reform won’t be easy, and it won’t be cheap.

That’s why we’ve launched a festive Crowdfunder – to raise the money needed to deliver at May’s local elections.

The Greens are right to view next May as being pivotal. The 2024 local elections cemented the idea that Reform are a viable political force in this country (even if they are now stalling in the polls). If the Greens can achieve something similar in 2025, it will do two things:

  • Reconfirm to the public that Labour and the Tories aren’t the only option.
  • Put to bed the idea that it’s Reform’s turn next.

Reform understand the Greens can pull this off better than anyone, which is why they’re putting so much effort into attacking Polanski.

Stretch targets

The Greens’ Crowdfunder now carries the following message:

Hope is here. In just 5 hours, we hit our £100,000 target. We’re doubling our target. Let’s take the fight to Reform in May.

At the time of writing, they’re at £155,711 with 33 days left. We’d say we’re sure they’ll hit their target, but with all this pantomime magic in the air someone would no doubt cry “Oh no they won’t!” in response.

People have reacted positively to the drive online anyway:

The Green Party has raised more donations in less than a day from this video (£129,241) than it did in the entire first half of 2025 (£109,608).

Hope is here. https://t.co/FAATn6h2tr

i fear this is the most effective a political party has been at communicating ever. https://t.co/PFLVxVHzJP

— Ash 💚 (@greenpartyash) November 28, 2025

Why is it when Zack Polanski does stuff like this, I don’t immediately cringe to death? I find him sweet and endearing. Whereas if any other politician would do this, I’d immediately pass away from embarrassment?? https://t.co/uYr52MTbla

It seems that the Green Party supporters are here to do two things: fundraise for the local elections and suck humbug, and they’re all out of humbug.

Christmas future

This fight goes beyond national concerns, as wherever Reform have taken over local councils, they’ve been making a mess of things. With that in mind, we’re supportive of any party which is planning to stand for the interests of the Cratchits over the Scrooges.
