The Canary previously reported on Your Party activists in Wirral. They’ve now formed a ‘proto branch’ and have issued a statement on the ‘Filton 24’:

Statement from Your Party Wirral (Proto Branch) demanding freedom for the Filton 24

We strongly protest the Starmer government’s brutal crackdown of pro-Palestinian activists particularly Palestine Action and the Filton 24, who have taken action against Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems.

Eight of the Filton 24 are on hunger strike, some are now critically ill and near death. We urgently demand their freedom.

Imprisoned for taking action against genocide, they have been caged on remand for over 16 months without bail. They have been placed under cruel prison conditions which include censorship and the withholding of documents key to their defence. With some trial dates not until 2027, they could spend years in prison without a trial.

The hunger strikers are: Amu Gib, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, Kamran Ahmed, Teuta ‘T’ Hoxha, Qesser Zurah, Muhammad Umer Khalid and Lewie Chiaramello.

The Starmer government – having actively supported genocide in Gaza for two years – is now ready to let these activists die to prove its loyalty to Zionism and US Imperialism.

All of us must rally in their defence. We urge all our members in trade unions to take action including motions demanding freedom for the Filton 24. An injury to one is an injury to all!

Free Palestine! Free the Filton 24!
