‘Buy me a coffee’ de-platforms Palestinian journalism archive

Zionism Observer has been de-platformed by the ‘BuyMeACoffee’ platform, a day after its domain host deleted its site.

BuyMeACoffee bowing to the Zionist lobby?

The Observer publishes an archive of the work of over 300 journalists murdered by Israel. In response to the deletion of this archive, thousands of well-wishers had made small donations to help restore it. But the de-platforming appears to have put that cash out of reach for its intended recipient. Zionism Observer announced the platform’s move in a post on X:

We just got deplatformed from @buymeacoffee. https://t.co/N8Y3JF0maU

A couple of hours later, BuyMeACoffee ‘explained’ its action – but did not offer to correct it. Instead, it claimed that the ‘violent content’ of Zionism Observer’s archive was a breach of its ‘terms of service’ (TOS):

In the spirit of full transparency, this decision was made by one of our moderators following valid reports related to violent content, which is against our TOS. We’ve escalated this internally for further review. Your page will remain active during the investigation.

The ‘violent content’ is an archive of evidence of Israel’s mass murders of Palestinian civilians. The evidence was gathered by journalists who were then murdered for exposing Israel’s crimes. Israel says exposing its crimes is ‘terrorism’.

But BuyMeACoffee’s excuse at least sheds more light on what is going on. ‘Valid reports’ against the archive’s content means, without reasonable doubt, a Zionist campaign of complaints targeting the archive. Such tactics are a staple of the Israel lobby’s tactics against those who challenge its racism and genocide. The Canary notoriously suffered a similar, coordinated attack on its finances; this is documented in the book The Fraud, serialised here.

Given the timing, this means that the deletion of the Zionism Observer website was almost certainly driven by the same campaign.

As Skwawkbox noted previously, Israel is trying to obliterate the massive evidence of its appalling crimes. The site says it is now working on a cryptocurrency-based donation option in the hope of more security. Its Patreon also still functions, but Zionism Observer says it expects that to be withdrawn too.
