Polanski calls Starmer and Farage ‘Trump First’ frauds

Following the US’s abduction of Nicolás Maduro, Keir Starmer and Nigel Farage immediately began competing for the ‘Fence Sitter of the Year’ award. In response, Greens leader Zack Polanski has called them out:

Starmer and Farage both drape themselves in flags but once again it's really clear where their loyalty really is.

It's Trump first. They will always be on the side of the super rich and powerful – no matter how heinous the crime.

This is not patriotism. It's subservience. https://t.co/M7sVgGLgMJ

Polanski sees the subservience

In full, Starmer’s message read:

The UK has long supported a transition of power in Venezuela. We regarded Maduro as an illegitimate President and we shed no tears about the end of his regime.

I reiterated my support for international law this morning. The UK government will discuss the evolving situation with US counterparts in the days ahead as we seek a safe and peaceful transition to a legitimate government that reflects the will of the Venezuelan people.

As we reported, saying ‘I support international law‘ is laughable when you’re simultaneously carrying water for a regime that’s violating international law. And of course Polanski is right to call this out:

Keir Starmer has made himself irrelevant on the world stage.

Trumps poodle – that Trumps not even interested in walking anymore.

The problem for all of us is we're stuck with him. For now… https://t.co/gjDONN7lVr

These people were right too:

You said nothing there, you are a terrified amoral coward.

The greens are coming and we will replace you. https://t.co/6Or93hLES6

This is what Farage said, by the way:

What are they going to ‘think twice’ about, Nigel?

Do you really think Russia will hesitate the next time it wants to invade a neighbour because America just did the same thing?

If he’s suggesting it will stop Russia attacking the US, there’s already thousands of reasons why they won’t, and they’re called ‘nuclear missiles’. You’ll notice politicians forget about the concept of ‘mutually assured destruction’ every time they want to sow fear, but they quickly remember again when they want to buy more nukes.

To be completely fair to the UK leaders, along with Polanski Ed Davey has also spoken out:

Green's Zack Polanski and LibDem's Ed Davey

The only two leaders willing to call out Trump

And criticising Starmer for not calling out Trump

Your Party politicians have too, and in a spectacular fashion:

How does the boot of Donald Trump taste? https://t.co/JS0vN3wD7M

— Zarah Sultana MP (@zarahsultana) January 3, 2026

Vassal state

The definition of a ‘vassal state’ is as follows:

a state with varying degrees of independence in its internal affairs but dominated by another state in its foreign affairs and potentially wholly subject to the dominating state

Is there any argument to be made that Britain is not a vassal state of the US?

Clearly, politicians like Farage and Starmer are terrified of criticising the Yanks (Starmer especially). So, Polanski is bang on to point it out. But how long can we tolerate politicians who prioritise the interests of US oligarchs over the needs of UK citizens?
