Sultana brands Starmer ‘spineless’ following US-UK ‘piracy’ raid
Your Party MP, Zarah Sultana, has criticised the UK prime minister, Keir Starmer as ‘spineless’ after his recent conversation with Trump over developments in the North Atlantic.
The reported call seemed to show that Starmer adopted an obedient tone with the rogue US President. It wouldn’t be the first time.

Joint operation, Starmer approved
The conversation between Trump and Starmer reportedly discussed:
the joint operation to intercept the Bella 1 as part of shared efforts to crack down on sanctions busting, recent progress on Ukraine and the US operation in Venezuela. The PM also set out his position on Greenland.
The seizure of Bella 1, flying the Russian flag, raised concerns about a potential nuclear showdown with Russia as a result of the interception.
Despite Russia deploying a submarine to protect the tanker Bella 1 in the Atlantic Ocean, U.S. airborne forces began helicopter landings on the tanker minutes ago. An operation is currently underway to seize the tanker belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet.

Reportedly, Starmer and his European counterparts are drawing a red line over the US President’s colonial ambition to seize Greenland. However, with European leaders consistently appeasing Trump, it’s unlikely he will pay any attention to the UK’s ‘position.’
Perhaps more concerning is whether that position will hold. The ongoing genocide in Gaza has demonstrated how European leaders have acted as ‘yes men,’ providing diplomatic cover for Trump’s agenda.

Grow a backbone
This isn’t the first time Starmer has come under fire for his pathetic responses to issues supposedly within his expertise. Despite being a qualified human rights lawyer, Starmer has justified Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the ensuing genocide, which has claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians and left many more disabled.
The public comment by Starmer that truly matters.
He gave support to Netanyahu 🇮🇱 for genocide.

As Sultana points out, Starmer’s latest failure to call out Trump for breaching international law highlights the UK’s disregard for the law. It also brings to mind the 2003 Anglo-American invasion of Iraq, where contempt for international law was on proud public display.
When the rule of law is there to protect people, not power, this is a failure that the British public cannot afford.

Reports on this incident state that no oil was being carried by this Russian Flagged vessel 5,500 km from the USA.
The Russian Federation statement confirms the following:
“On December 24, 2025, the tanker Marinera received temporary authorization to sail under the Russian state flag, issued in accordance with Russian law and international legal norms.
Today, at around 15:00 Moscow time, U.S. naval forces boarded the vessel on the high seas, outside the territorial waters of any state. Contact with the ship was subsequently lost. Under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the high seas are governed by the principle of freedom of navigation. No state has the right to use force against vessels lawfully registered under the jurisdiction of another state.”
The question arises as to why a ship carrying no cargo is stolen on the high seas and the crew – including Russian, Georgian and Ukrainian nationals – are kidnapped in the same way that Maduro was kidnapped and are apparently facing charges – presumably for breaking Western sanctions which have no legal standing in International Law>
