A viral X video captures the U.S. President giving the middle finger to a Ford worker, seemingly signaling his disapproval amid widespread claims that Donald Trump is protecting paedophiles.

Accountability: Trump not interested

The U.S. president is facing growing controversy at home. Critics say Trump officials are vilifying a citizen instead of investigating the ICE agent who killed Renee Good. Prosecutors have resigned in protest, and public outrage is mounting in the US. Many have argued this reflects misplaced priorities and a lack of accountability on offenders.

The viral video captures the growing frustration of ordinary Americans. Yet it also underscores Trump’s accountability issues, as the worker was reportedly fired for crossing him.

In a show of public spirit and resistance to state oppression, a GoFundMe has been set up for the now-unemployed worker, amassing $130k and rising. A refreshing sign that moral courage can be more rewarding than taking the easy path.

One account commented on the video showing their respect and appreciation to the outspoken worker, notably receiving popular support:

Hahahahaha someone give that worker a raise!

This incident adds to the mounting accusations against the president. People have pointed to his apparent efforts to shield public officials from scrutiny over ties to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein following delays in publishing the Epstein Files. That move has divided MAGA supporters, who remember Trump’s campaign promises to ‘hold offenders accountable’.

A broken promise that this X account points out:

Those workers got him elected, they had real hope to make America great again. But Trump isn’t here for the common American people, he’s only here to protect his elite pedophile friends. Democrats, Republicans = same show, different costumes.

A blast from the past

This firing arguably amounts to unfair dismissal, effectively echoing the tactics of the “thought police” that the far-right often tout as a slur against left wing politicians and ‘woke’ policy. As far-right leaders and accounts gain influence, Western societies are increasingly seeing the oppressive and extreme tactics these leaders are willing to use.

The uproar indicates that Trump risks alienating his own supporters with these offensive policies.
