Netanyahu skips Davos ‘peace board’ signing as Switzerland say he’ll be arrested

Wanted Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend the signing ceremony of Donald Trump’s bullshit “Board of Peace” in Davos. Swiss authorities had confirmed that they will arrest Netanyahu under the International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity – one of the few governments to say it will fulfil its obligations under international law.

Netanyahu had initially opposed Trump’s Gaza plan, but u-turned to accept Trump’s invitation. Now civil war looms in Israel’s far-right coalition. Extremist settler ministers are furious the plan would limit their aim to completely absorb Gaza and the West Bank.

The Starmer UK government has so far refused to say that it will arrest Netanyahu if he appears on British territory. Instead, it would ‘consult’ lawyers to see whether an arrest would be appropriate or wait for additional ICC documentation it doesn’t need – even though international law puts an unequivocal duty on all signatories to enact the warrant. Meanwhile, Starmer and his front bench have provided guarantees of immunity to other Israeli war criminals to attend the UK for meetings, a move likely intended to be secret but quickly exposed.
