Scottish Labour MP Leishman says Starmer’s faction up to “some dark sh*t”

There are still just a handful of decent people in the Labour Party, though few and far between. Alloa and Grangemouth’s union-backed Brian Leishman is one.

Leishman: calling it out

In the Commons on Monday 23 february, Leishman challenged Starmer for his broken promise (one of so, so many) to clean up politics. He then pointed out that the people who scammed Starmer into the Labour top seat and, with the help of Reform, into Number 10 have been exposed as spies and con artists. These miscreants include Starmer’s disgraced now-former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney, his disgraced now-former senior adviser and ambassador Peter Mandelson and his disgraced for-now current minister Josh Simons.

And he rounded off by challenging Starmer’s front bench to admit that all this is “some dark shit”:

Leishman was told off by friend-of-Israel speaker Lindsey Hoyle for his choice of word. He offered the required apology for his language, but did not withdraw the question and looked entirely unrepentant about the sentiment.

Leishman had the party whip suspended in July 2025 for publicly criticising Starmer and refusing to vote to harm poor people, then reinstated in November. Given Starmer’s notoriously brittle ego, it may not be long before Mr L is sitting as an independent again – and all the better for it.

Stamer is a tory plant sent in to destroy the Labour party. He should have been expelled for being complicit in netenyahu’s genocide in Gaza by enabling it with the supply of armaments. His LIES about Jeremy Corbyn and anti-semitism prove that he is a zionist poodle. He has destroyed ALL credibilty the Labout party ever had and he is a disgrace. The fact that he invited the orange faced NAZI from the White House to visit not just once but twice makes him unfit for ANY political office. It’s still not too late for the party to EXPEL the lying scumbag but time is running out to repair the damage he has caused.

I didn’t hear any bad language, the word ‘shit’ is used daily by everyone, everyone understands it perfectly and as a descriptive word it is difficult to beat in describing almost anything that Starmer says.

Well said Mr Leishman, It is people like you who should Lead British Politics, However You and those who follow your path will never be allowed to do so, You my friend are the embodiment of the Labour Movement and you will always have your name dragged through the mud, The British Media all of it will make sure you will never get the chance to be a Scottish Labour Leader, Politicians who care about the Majority of British People are not welcome at the table, but your conscience is clear and your Honesty is to be applauded once again Mr Leishman Well Said. You stand amongst Labour Giants Attlee, Bevin
Hardie, Corbyn, and a few others who are still making their way Sultana for one.

I have no knowledge of parliamentary protocol and wouldn’t have had the wit to think on my feet with a quick response, personally, but a question for more learned readers: Would Mr Leishman have been able to have avoided a retraction and not needed to apologise if he made it crystal clear that he was quoting someone else’s view of the situation, verbatim?

I did like his mini speech, by the way.
