Irish government assisting illegal US-Zionist war on Iran

The government of Taoiseach Micheál Martin are currently participating in the barbaric US/’Israeli’ assault on Iran by allowing Shannon airport to be used by US warplanes. The Ditch report that:

A US military chartered aircraft used to transport troops stopped at Shannon last Friday before flying straight to Kuwait – a critical hub for American forces in the region – just hours before Washington-backed Israel attacked Iran.

They also point out that:

The plane arrived in Ireland the day before an Israeli airstrike killed more than 150 schoolgirls…

Images show the haunting sight of huge rows of tiny graves being dug for the children murdered by the Zionist entity, who were aged between 7 and 12.

The plane that stopped at Shannon was a Boeing 767-300. It left the US from:

…Baltimore-Washington International Airport before landing at Shannon on Friday [Feb 27] morning.

Martin brings back an old favourite and condemns Hamas

It then flew on to Kuwait. Two other US aircraft stopped at Shannon before flying on to Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The Ditch point out that the latter facility:

…has been the central European hub over the past few days for the transport of weapons and personnel as part of the US and Israel’ illegal war against Iran.

The Irish government’s response to the aggression against Iran has so far been pathetic. Rather than condemn the brutal assault in which the US/Zionist thugs have killed over 1000 Iranians, Micheál Martin has instead focused on criticising Iran, and bizarrely, Hamas.

He said:

For a long time now, Iran has been a very malign influence in the world and in the Middle East.

Then:

I think history, in reflecting on this period, will see October 7th as a disastrous catalyst for the uncertainty and instability in the world.

This is an absurd way to apportion blame for the current conflict, given the US and the Zionist settler-colony are the aggressors, and the ones with all the power. Furthermore, Ireland has much more capacity to affect the actions of the murderous Washington/Tel Aviv alliance, so that should be where Martin’s focus ought to lie. There aren’t Iranian warplanes in Shannon airport, but there are US ones. There aren’t Hamas products on sale in Irish supermarkets, but there are ‘Israeli’ ones.

The government has failed to do the bare minimum in calling the bombing of Iran a breach of international law. Minister of Defence Helen McEntee danced around the question, only complaining about the lack of a UN mandate. She said:

It’s very clearly outside of the UN mandate and in order for the conflict that we believe should be justified, there needs to be a UN mandate from the UN Security Council.

Government ministers seek to provide cover for illegal war

She, like Martin, put the focus on Iran, seemingly implying there was some justification for the illegal US/Zionist killings:

I think we’re all grappling with the fact that Iran has not only subdued and massacred its own citizens and population in recent decades and recently in recent weeks, but it has essentially contributed to state-sponsored terrorism for many regions.

So much of the instability and conflict that has been caused in the region has been at the hands of Iran.

There is no contest for which entity in the Middle East is the most destabilising force. It is the illegitimate, expansionist land theft project that calls itself ‘Israel’. The one which has been robbing Palestinian land for a century, and has now set its sights on a project of Greater Israel. It has recently stolen territory from Lebanon and Syria, and now seeks to Balkanise Iran.

Sinn Féin’s leader Mary Lou McDonald said the bombing of the Islamic Republic amounted to:

…actions of powerful states acting in defiance of international law.

She went on:

Israel – already pursuing a genocide in Gaza – has widened its murderous campaign. Israel has no interest in peace, compromise, or negotiation.

The United States has backed and enabled this escalation. This represents military aggression over diplomacy.

Pathetic NATO dreams behind refusal to criticise criminal aggression

People Before Profit’s statement on the war scoffed at the narrative of Trump and Netanyahu acting out of humanitarian concern:

No one should believe the lie that they want to help people overthrow a brutal regime. Saudi Arabia, for example, hosts a US airbase but engages in terrible repression and murder.

They also highlighted how the Irish government are attempting to:

…forge closer links with NATO and are seeking to end the Triple Lock, which Michael Martin once described as ‘the core of Irish neutrality’.

As reported by the Canary, last week saw a series of moves designed to accelerate Irish integration into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation war machine. It is this craven agenda that lies behind Martin’s refusal to condemn an obviously criminal war, one Ireland is now participating in via the use of Shannon airport.

Do western states know what they are doing by backing the US criminal war against Iran? The US and Europe have previously said that anyone backing a regime that they do not support or which attacks them leaves them open to attack.
So the west is now leaving itself open to reprisals but more than that, they again saying that if you dislike a politician you can kill them, if you dislike a religious leader you can kill them, if you dislike what someone says you can kill them.
All of this is in violation of international law and the west which recently bemoaned the end of ‘the rule of law’ has jumped on the bandwagon of recrimination of selective murder

Some on the Left think the Irish and Spanish governments are bravely standing against the US/Israel war on Iran. Neither is doing so. Spain still has US bases, which are being used to commit war crimes; and it sent a warship to ‘defend Europe’ against Iran’s self-defence. They talk against the war while acting to support it.
