Is the Labour party in the hands of the “right” people?
We know everyone is suffering under the Tories - but the Canary is a vital weapon in our fight back, and we need your support
The Canary Workers’ Co-op knows life is hard. The Tories are waging a class war against us we’re all having to fight. But like trade unions and community organising, truly independent working-class media is a vital weapon in our armoury.
The Canary doesn’t have the budget of the corporate media. In fact, our income is over 1,000 times less than the Guardian’s. What we do have is a radical agenda that disrupts power and amplifies marginalised communities. But we can only do this with our readers’ support.
So please, help us continue to spread messages of resistance and hope. Even the smallest donation would mean the world to us.

That’s why he went to Ukraine.
Very pleased to see this insightful and witty comment on Starmer and the Labour Party.
It contrasts with the shocking announcement by ‘ED’ (letter page editor, Steve Topple) in a reply to a Canary letter this week, that The Canary will no longer write about the Labour Party. This decision was in response to an actual question asked about it in a recent survey.
For The Canary not to continue to expose the opportunism of Starmer and the Labour Party, for it to hold its tongue about this uncomfortably hot potato, is disappointing and even casts doubt upon The Canary itself.
Thanks Ralph for this exposure of Labour’s opportunism. One voice at least who is willing to do this.
It was a terrible survey, one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Nowhere for nuance, or comments.
“What KIND of reporting on Labour?” would have been essential information.
“How many articles should we publish?” – WHAT?!? As many good articles as you write! Apparently a silly question.
It read like a 6th formers output, frankly, and one rushed at 8:30 am before the lecture too.
My advice to the Canary would be to bin its results, and spend more time on crafting another.
I’d intended to write a letter saying that to them, lol.
Well, they can read it here. I’m sure they have my email if they’d like to respond. If not, just ask MI5 for it.
I feel it would be wrong of the Canary not to expose the Far Right Leanings of the Opposition Leader and Shadow Cabinet. After all they were not slow to applaud the Tory victories which meant they could oust Jeremy Corbyn, a strong leader and the best PM this century that we never had.
