The League Against Cruel Sports is hosting a major rally on Saturday 9 May 2026 to demand that the government finally bans the utter bullshit that is trail hunting. Activists and animal lovers are being called to gather at Old Palace Yard, Westminster at 3.15pm.

Flyer for the rally. It states 'The clock is ticking on hunting with hounds' and describes the time and palace of the rally.

Hunting is an animal rights issue

This protest happens a pivotal time for the future of animal rights in the UK. On Thursday 26 March 2026, a 12 week public consultation was launched by the government, asking the population for their views on banning trail hunting in the UK.

Trail hunting is where huntsman apparently lay fake scents in order to simulate a real fox hunt. Sadly, this is nothing but a smokescreen, with the hunt claiming to be following the artificial trails whilst actually continuing to hunt and kill innocent foxes. The League Against Cruel Sport and The Hunt Saboteur Association have frequently documented illegal hunts being conducted. While the Hunting Act 2004 has banned the pursuit of wild animals with dogs, hunts often claim animals are killed by accident.

I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’ve listened to these bloodthirsty wankers lie about laying trails. And I have seen huntsman resort to violence to try to hide the fact that they’re breaking the law. And this Saturday, the League are finally saying that enough is enough,

Emma Slawinski, chief exec of the League says this consultation is a ‘pivotal moment’ to protect animals from being ‘mercilessly chased and killed’.

And the League need us to turn up to support them this Saturday.

We demand stronger laws

This rally aims to show the government that we want these ridiculous legal loopholes closed for good. It’s time we said no to letting these bloodthirsty wankers flaunt the law and kill our helpless wildlife. New polling data shows 81% of the population in the UK supports the ban on hunting with dogs. That is a fucking wild amount of people vs a small percentage who still think it’s okay to rip apart defenceless animals with a pack of hounds.

Further research shows that support for a total ban on trail hunting is high across the political spectrum. Even 64% of Reform UK voters support the ban. This is despite their worm-faced leader Nigel Farage previously saying that he will reverse the trail hunting ban, and legalise fox hunting if he gets into power.

The League, alongside the Hunt Saboteurs Association and the Badger trust have some very simple demands. They are calling for a total ban on trail hunting so these posh wankers on ponies can no longer exploit the trail hunting loophole. They want to introduce jail sentences for those who break hunting laws. This one made me laugh, because I have been hunt sabbing and I have seen the police actively refuse to come to the scene of a crime. I have seen criminal damage against sabbing vehicles and violence against sabs. And I have seen the police downright refuse to attend to any report put in by hunt sabs.

Celebrities are leading the call to action

The rally includes a line up of well known speakers to hammer the demands home. Chris Packham, who has actually been out in the field and witnessed illegal hunts, is the main attraction. He has been working closely with Megan McCubbin who is also due to speak at the rally. Both Packham and McCubbin filmed ‘Operation Smokescreen’ in which they went out into the West Country and monitored the notorious Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt. Both have been absolutely integral in bringing attention to this fucked up loophole that trail hunting allows.

Peter Egan, another staunch animal rights supporter is also on the bill.

Nigel Palmer, chief exec of the Badger Trust, is also due to speak. His main concern is how hunting leads to increased ‘sett blocking’. This disgusting practice is when huntsman block the entrances to badger dens, locking the animals inside. This is to prevent foxes from seeking safety underground.

Closing the net on hunters

The League is urging all supporters to attend the peaceful demo and respond to the government consultation before 18 June 2026.

The charity believes that by ending trail hunting and introducing real custodial sentences, we can finally end the disgusting massacre of wildlife once and for all. I remain hopeful that this will be the case, although the charity and Hunt Sabs will have to work alongside the police to make sure crimes are actively being recorded.

As the consultation period reaches its halfway point, the pressure is on the government to actually act on it’s manifesto promise and turn it into a robust as fuck law. So please, if you can, get yourself to Old Palace Yard in Westminster on Saturday 9 May. It’s time to let the government know that enough is enough.

Fos hunting. It’s Not a sport, that’s another smoke screen. It is an antiquated blood thirsty hobby that cruel, people with no empathy or understanding do to amuse themselves. Not any different to murderers who usually have a history of cruelty to animals before committing murder. Shallow minded individuals who need educating into a better way of life. It shows their ignorance and selfishness.
