Polanski calls out Labour’s ‘watered down’ workers’ rights package

Labour MPs have been gunning for Zack Polanski since the Green Party overtook them in the polls. The problem is they’re doing so with a busted spud gun, allowing Polanski to deflect everything they’re firing:

Polanski striking a chord

The poll above shows that Labour voters aren’t happy with Keir Starmer’s performance. Labour politicians can point to this policy or that proposal, but the fact is no one feels like things have gotten easier since Labour took power. In fact, many of us feel like things have gotten harder.

On the topic of workers’ rights, Rose Cocker wrote the following for the Canary in November 2025:

Labour has now dropped the guarantee of day-one unfair dismissal protections from its Workers’ Rights Bill. The weakening of the Bill is a clear breach of Labour’s manifesto pledges, which vowed ‘day one’ protection against unfair dismissal.

The move, announced 27 November, instead lowers the threshold for unfair dismissal claims from 2 years to 6 months.

This is what Polanski means by “watered down”.

Oh, and lest we forget, the man on the inside encouraging this betrayal was the now-sacked Peter Mandelson:

Mandelson has influence on Starmer, and here he is saying Labour shouldn't 'betray' business if they wish to improve workers rights.

Union drive

Polanski’s exchange with Labour MP Preet Kaur Gill began here:

Labour voters are now those who are financially best off.

This is because Labour have turned their backs on the working class to placate the wealthy.

In full, the post from the Times’ Daisy Eastlake reads:

Zack Polanski will target trade unions with appearances at conferences as part of a Green Party strategy to win over core Labour groups disillusioned with Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership

The Green leader has spoken to ten unions, including some officially affiliated with Labour, across health, education and culture sectors

He is set to make five keynote speeches at union conferences in an attempt to win over members

One Green source said Polanski’s goal was to stop the unions funding Labour, rather than getting them to back the Greens outright

Polanski told the Times that a “crucial part” of replacing Labour as Britain’s main left-wing option for voters was to “connect with the organised labour movement”

Labour clearly thought it was smart politics to betray the unions.

Look how that’s working out.

Problems

Labour have a big problem when it comes to challenging Polanski. Namely, whenever they attack him, it draws everyone’s attention to Labour’s woeful record in office.

In other words, we encourage every Labour MP to attack Polanski as often as possible.
