Six Palestinians have been murdered by Zionist colonial settlers in the occupied West Bank in less than a week. This brings the total, so far in 2026, to seven.

Reservist soldiers kills Palestinian and critically wounds his brother in the West Bank

28 year old father of two, Amir Mohammad Shanaran  was shot in the neck and killed at close range by an ‘Israeli’ settler, in the Wadi Al-Rakhim area of Masafer Yatta, in the occupied West Bank. The violent attack, which occurred on Saturday, March 7, also seriously injured his brother Khaled.

The settler who murdered Amir, is a reservist soldier and was wearing a military uniform at the time. He was known to residents and was from the illegal settlement of Susya.

The two brothers were shot after the illegal settlers released their livestock onto land owned by the residents of the village.

West Bank — another incident near Ramallah

On the same day another three Palestinians were also killed and several injured in the village of Abu Falah, North East of Ramallah. Settlers stormed the village and attacked Palestinians as they attempted to defend their land. Thaer Hamayel, 24, and Farea Hamayel, 57, were shot and killed, while Mohammad Murra, 55, later died from severe tear gas inhalation. This was from a raid that was then carried out by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF), to prevent Palestinians from defending the village against these violent terrorist settlers. One man was also critically injured during the attack, when a settler struck his head with an axe.

Five days earlier, on 2 March, another two Palestinian men were also killed by a settler who was an occupation soldier, in the village of Qaryout, South East of Nablus. The settler went to a Palestinian owned olive grove and started working on an authorised access road. This led to residents confronting him, reportedly by throwing stones. Soon afterwards, more than 50 settlers arrived. Five people were shot, two were killed. These were the brothers Mohammad Taha Mo’amar, 52, and Faheem, 48.

19 year old Nasrallah Abu Siam, a US- Palestinian, was the first Palestinian to be shot and killed by settlers in the West Bank, in 2026. They launched an attack on his village of Mukhmas, North East of Jerusalem, on 18 Februay. Five other residents were hospitalised and Abu Siam was shot in the thigh, severing an artery. These seven killings of Palestinians at the hands of settlers, that have so far taken place in 2026, have occurred amid a surge in settler violence in the occupied West Bank. Although all ‘Israeli’ settlements are illegal under international law, settlements have expanded at record rates. Numbers have increased by almost 50 percent since Netanyahu came to power. Settlers act with complete impunity, and are supported and protected by the Israeli occupation forces, and armed by the government. There is no accountability for any of the crimes they commit against Palestinans so, because of international silence, they feel emboldened and are becoming more and more violent.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, as of 9 March, 43 Palestinians have been killed by settlers in the occupied West Bank since 7 October, 2023.
