On 24 June, we reported that Tommy Robinson tried to rewrite history over the libel case he lost. He did this in an interview with Karl Stefanovic which has since been scoured from the internet. As investigative reporter Gadget noted:

🚨 Karl Stefanovic's "interview" of Tommy Robinson has been pulled from the internet

I use "interview" in inverted commas as it was more a propaganda puff piece, as Karl allowed Tommy to lie unchallenged for 40 minutes while he giggled like a schoolgirl gushing over Tommy.

Journalistic malpractice

Karl Stefanovic is an Australian news host who works at the Nine Network. Ah, sorry, we meant to say he worked for Nine Network. Since his puff piece with Robinson went live, the network has given him the sack:

🚨 Karl Stefanovic has reportedly been SACKED by Channel Nine as presenter of The Today Show (Australia) after his propaganda interview with Tommy Robinson.

As bad as Western media is, there are still some standards. And it turns out you can’t get away with having a lying white supremacist on who spouts unfiltered lies to your audience.

On 24 June, we reported that Robinson lied about the libel case he lost in his conversation with Stefanovic. If you understand what ‘libel’ means, you appreciate this is a reckless thing to do – especially as he was ordered to pay £100,000 in damages the first time around.

Robinson libelled a Syrian refugee named Jamal Hijazi. Hijazi suffered an assault which was filmed and made public. Robinson then:

claimed in two Facebook videos that Jamal was “not innocent and he violently attacks young English girls in his school”.

In the clips viewed by nearly one million people, the 38-year-old also claimed Jamal “beat a girl black and blue” and “threatened to stab” another boy at his school, allegations the teenager denies. At a four-day trial in April, Jamal’s lawyers said that Robinson’s comments had “a devastating effect” on the schoolboy and his family who had come to the UK as refugees from Homs, Syria

Robinson spouted far more hate and bullsh*t than this in the interview too.

Endless

Gadget also caught the following deceptions from Robinson:

  • Misrepresenting footage from one journalist to slander another journalist.
  • Presenting the fabricated statistic that “40% of all maximum security prisons are taken over by Islam” in the UK.
  • Telling lies about his mortgage fraud conviction.

Stefanovic didn’t challenge any of this, and has now been sacked.

Good riddance!

A few years ago, you might have said Stefanovic could do pretty well going solo on YouTube. He still might, for a while. The problem he’ll have is that there are now many sacked newsmen fighting for eyeballs on YouTube (see Mike Graham and Dan Wootton in the UK).

Eventually, there may be more of them than there are viewers. And we’re sure Tommy Robinson will be happy to be interviewed by any of them.
