Frankie Boyle calls out the commentators turning a blind eye to ‘genocide’ – and there’s plenty of them
With Israel moving into Gaza amidst an “impossible” evacuation, many have described the situation as “genocide”. It’s a genocide inflicted by the Israeli government upon the civilian population of Gaza:

It’s a genocide which many commentators would rather not acknowledge in such direct terms. One public figure who hasn’t been afraid is Frankie Boyle, who had the following message for those who would shy away from acknowledging the war crimes taking place:

Boyle’s full message reads:
A lot of artists and commentators in Britain who’ve spent their careers foregrounding their empathy and humanism, apparently unable to muster a single word about the genocide in Gaza. This matters because Britain is providing political and military cover for these actions. If you have a voice, please use it to call for a ceasefire, and the lifting of the blockade.
The conditions now faced by Palestinians have been widely reported on. Yet Boyle is right – many public figures would rather not acknowledge what’s happening:

For example, former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman has now made a career for herself as a political commentator. She also hosts the Pride of Britain awards. These, according to the awards’ website:

However, on X Vorderman can barely bring herself to mention Israel or Palestine. Instead, she reshared a podcast on the subject hosted by war criminal Alastair Campbell – as well as some liberal daydreaming by TV host Patrick Kielty:

Hypocrisy
Hamas’s attack on military and civilian targets is being used by some to justify whatever comes next. Those adopting such a position include the most powerful man in the world:

In the UK, shadow foreign secretary David Lammy refused to give an answer on whether he supported the evacuation of Gaza because he believed it would have a negative impact on his ability to achieve greater political power:

Labour leader Keir Starmer has also invited criticism for his one-sided stance on the situation:

Speaking out
However, it’s not just establishment politicians and commentators who are either ignoring or being wilfully obtuse about the situation for the Palestinian people. Grief grifters like U2’s Bono have made their position very clear:

As the war continues, it’s important that people call out atrocities where they see them. It’s clear that many powerful people see any and all action against ordinary Palestinians as acceptable. They need to understand that the world won’t forget what they say in this moment.

Nothing new there.
His campaign for the Labour leadership was funded to the tune of £50,000 by the same Trevor Chinn …. a membership of the Jewish Leadership Council … who has VERY deep pockets when it comes to funding key MPs in all three main UK parties.

The apartheid Israel government’s forces are indeed guilty of many acts of “ethnic-cleansing and mass-murder” against the Palestinian people. But that does not mean that any organisation attacking it automatically deserves our support. Hamas shows itself to be reactionary, fanatically religious and utterly unconcerned with anything other than creating Islamic hegemony around the world. It is the very antithesis of a socialist, working class organisation, and its deliberate targeting of civilians is not a recent tactic. If I am incorrect, perhaps someone will provide counter-evidence. I’d be very interested.
I never know what to think about Frankie. I enjoy much of his comic bravery, though find him occasionally just cruel for the sake of a joke, a la Joan Rivers. (Disabled people, anyone?).
But if he claims to love peace and justice so much, then maybe Frankie shouldn’t have invited David Baddiel, someone else of Jewish heritage, and Kathryn Ryan (who was converting to Judaism at the time), on to his BBC TV prog, to have a long 3 or 4 way pile-on with Frankie aimed at Jeremy Corbyn and his, you know, ‘alleged anti-Semitism’. (Those celebs who seem to signal Left, then turn Right). That programme wasn’t the first or last assault he directed at Corbyn and his Socialist aims for a Labour government, and Frankie’s jokes were usually of a sad playground name-calling level.
So, nice to see Frankie’s support for the Palestinians here – the racist anti-Semite! (Of course he isn’t, just my little ironic joke). I wonder what else Frankie passionately believes in that might make him worth listening to? And will it be consistency, mere comic scatter-gun, or just todays pose?
P.S. I think what I was trying to say, was – I’m sick of people complaining about the state of the world and the UK, whether they be politicians, celebs, or ordinary voters in Redcar, and wishing things could be better.
Yet they were the very ones who helped kill the potential for those dreams to become a reality. It’s not about a mythical Saint Jeremy, or harking back to the past, it’s about the vision he had, (which many of us still have), but ignorance, stupidity, evil mendacity and selfishness killed it. So, sorry for not doing starjumps and cartwheels when ‘murderers’ say something sympathetic for once.
DrailD, I was a Frankie-fan until he made that SERIOUS error of judgement – he apparently “trusted” the BBC to edit that show in a balanced manner. He lost a cool third of his watchers that night, and he knew it. I haven’t watched a show of his since, as much as i can respect he was a victim of BBC Zionazism.
But the impact of that fantastically stupid decision was because he IS a genuinely good and decent person usually on the morally-right side of the ledger.
I mean, compare him to the chronically unfunny Badiel, who hasn’t made a single person laugh since Rob Newman left him behind, and would probably have a nosebleed if he couldn’t pull out his Victimhood schtick.
Frankie’s OK. How he’ll make up for that error beats me, but things like this are a good step. Getting banned from the BBC for “aNTi-seMiTiSM” would certainly help his cred. 😉
