Your Party announce they’ve already surged to 50,000 members

‘Your Party’ have already reached the milestone of 50,000 members, with the join-up process having gone live in September. Combined with the growth that the Green Party have experienced, this demonstrates a genuine hunger in the UK for a truly left-wing alternative.

BREAKING: @jeremycorbyn just announced to a packed-out rally in Islington that Your Party has 50,000 members!

This is just the start. We are building a mass, democratic movement for change. Be a part of it. pic.twitter.com/5KWacClhon

Your Party eager for increase in numbers

While it’s currently known as ‘Your Party’, the plan is for members to decide on the party’s final name. With the founding conference set to take place later this month, the fledgling party have said:

In November, thousands of in-person founding conference delegates will be chosen by lottery to ensure a fair balance of gender, region, and background. These delegates will have a big responsibility – to debate the founding documents, propose amendments and vote on them at the conference in Liverpool. The final decision will be up to all members through an online, secure, one-member-one-vote system.

Without even having a final name, Your Party is already on track to unseat home secretary Shabana Mahmood:

🟣 YRP – 33% (new)
🔴 LAB – 24% (-19)
🟢 GRN – 19% (+10)
➡️ REF – 14% (+10)
🔵 CON – 7% (+1)

As you can see above, the Greens are also doing extremely well. This is seemingly because the Labour party have given up any pretence of doing politics for the people:

🚨 | @TheGreenParty has hit 150,000 members.

It’s incredible that in less than two months, the party has grown from 68,500 to 150,000.

Happy Monday everyone 😀 https://t.co/5p75FaER7Q pic.twitter.com/cNs5ZXn07d

Whilst, they’re certainly still experiencing some teething issues, one thing has been clear throughout this process: a significant portion of the British electorate want this party to exist, and many of them will fight for it to function as a democratic vehicle for left-wing politics. Demonstrating this interest, 800,000 people signed up to follow them earlier this year:

Your Party now has 800,000 sign ups. It’s a matter of time until it reaches a million, isn’t it? pic.twitter.com/SsbaGTxwGA

We’re sure that like us, all those who have become members want Your Party to become a functional alternative to the corporate-captured Labour Party.

Speaking of this ongoing discussion, Zarah Sultana announced the following event which is taking place in Ealing on 6 November:

Join us in Ealing for an exciting discussion about Your Party — a socialist, member-led party that is democratic and rooted in our communities.

Let’s build it together ✊🏽

Date: Thursday 6 November, 6.30pm
Location: St Mary’s Church, Acton

Your Party have also drawn attention to the ongoing regional assemblies:

Another great day of regional assemblies, with hundreds of members coming together to build a new kind of political party from the ground up 💪

Great energy in Falmouth, capped by a packed rally with @jeremycorbyn! pic.twitter.com/z75gymnT3q

If this participation can turn into a truly member-driven project, we’re optimistic about what Your Party can achieve in future.
