Pro-Israel MP blocked from school visit after parents stage anti-genocide protest

As Skwawkbox covered last night, Israel fanatic, Starmeroid minister Steve Reed told the Zionist ‘Jewish Labour Movement’ (JLM) conference that an unnamed “Jewish colleague” was barred from visiting a school “in case his presence inflames the teachers”.

So far, so dishonest.

Labour MP bats for Israel

The MP in question is Damien Egan, a convert to Judaism, and a vice-chair of the notorious ‘Labour Friends of Israel’ (LFI). The Bristol North-East MP is also married to a former member of Israeli intelligence corps, ‘Unit 8200’, who mark their headsets with the number of Palestinians they’ve helped kill.

Egan is not a shy or circumspect LFI vice-chair. His comments on Gaza include a parliamentary question promoting Israeli lies about links between UN humanitarian agency UNRWA and Hamas:

The issue of collaboration and infiltration between Hamas and some UNRWA officials is well documented. Clearly, people in Gaza need aid, so can the Minister update us on how we are monitoring the work being done to restore neutrality and confidence in UNRWA?

Understandably, such connections and comments appal anyone who opposes Israel’s wholesale slaughter of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, the overwhelmingly majority of whom are children. So local people organised. Not because Egan is Jewish, but because he supports a genocidal apartheid colony. Parents were going to keep their kids off school rather than expose them to a genocide supporter.

Even the Murdoch Times had to admit this, noting that:

parents … planned to keep their children off school, which the leaders feared would affect attendance statistics.

Silent protest against genocidal endorsement

And teachers were not at risk of being “inflamed”, as Reed claimed. Instead, they were planning to wear Palestinian ‘keffiyeh’ scarves in a silent protest. Reed, of course, knew all this, because the Times says he was ‘outraged’.

But of course, parents and teachers peacefully protesting genocide doesn’t mean Israel supporters won’t claim victimhood at the hands of these wicked people.

How dare parents protect their children from racist imperialism?

How dare teachers and their union show silent solidarity with an oppressed and slaughtered people?

That is violence and threat, naturally.

So “a source close to Egan” — which could be Egan himself, or his Israeli husband, claimed this was about Egan being “endangered” by “far-left extremists”.

It is a classic case of how far-left extremists and some members of the NEU try to silence and cancel people. It cannot be allowed to be the case that MPs cannot visit a local school because of a risk that teachers will protest and their safety endangered.”

Perhaps Egan feared kids or teachers might bring biscuits to school. Maybe jam. No, this is not (really) a joke: Reed also wants people prosecuted for decorating biscuits with a Palestinian flag.

Israel, always the victim. Even faced with school kids — perhaps especially with school kids. God knows, they’ve murdered enough of them.
