Reform newbie Skinner instantly exposed as a ‘grifter’

Ex-Apprentice contestant Thomas Skinner has been exposed as an attention-seeking grifter after an old embarrassing X post has come to light.

This cringeworthy moment comes as Skinner appears to drift toward far-right Reform UK, sharing a lovey-dovey photo of himself with Nigel Farage on X:

Bosh! @iamtomskinner pic.twitter.com/mvPWnlv4ky

— Nigel Farage MP (@Nigel_Farage) January 20, 2026

But, someone had soon dug up an old tweet from Skinner where he said:

Just seen all the news. You can’t trust reform, you can’t trust labour, you can’t trust the conservatives. In fact I don’t think there is many in government you can trust in my opinion. all smoke and mirrors. Lies & corrupton.

Awkward!

I know you search your name on Twitter because I didn't even tag you.

This was you a few months ago, BTW. https://t.co/omOPDLxHGP pic.twitter.com/MyIwF1XREm

‘Here for the grift, sod the graft’

Skinner’s need to be the centre of attention as his ultimate driving force has been completely exposed. Mukhtar’s timely reminder has exposed the familiar hypocrisy and dishonesty that has been apparent among the entire Reform camp. This stems from an old X post from May last year, in which Skinner said:

Just seen all the news. You can’t trust reform, you can’t trust labour, you can’t trust the conservatives. In fact i don’t think there is many in government you can trust in my opinion. All smoke and mirrors. Lies and corruption.

The X thread initially began with Mukhtar sharing the image of Reform leader Farage with his new buddy Skinner. Mukhtar pointed out that his newfound love appears to be in contrary to the past protestations of the ex-Apprentice contestant. Skinner reportedly has stated in the past, with ChatGPT doing the work, that he is ‘not political’ and just ‘a normal guy grafting’.

However, Skinner’s response lays bare his desperate need for attention, likely even searching his own name for attention and validation:

How many nights a week do you lay up thinking about me 😂😂😂

Keep going bro.

I love that you stand up for what you believe in. I do the same.

Big love.

Bosh❤️

— Thomas Skinner ⚒ (@iamtomskinner) January 20, 2026

When his past dislike of politics was questioned, Skinner ignored it entirely. Instead, he chose to fantasise about another man lying awake night after night thinking about him – a pretty telling deflection.

You're a hypocrite who can't back his chat. https://t.co/Fqxyjtk5JS

‘You stand up for what you believe in. I do the same’

In the 10-month window since Skinner apparently despised Farage and today, not much has significantly changed about the far-right party. Until you consider the recent Tory defections to the billionaire-funded party. Whilst they may not have gone down too well with their legacy members, the frenzied moves will have likely increased appeal for attention-hungry public figures. After all, rats leave sinking ships for one reason: to feed.

This exchange only underlines how politicians and public figures praising the extremist party do so not out of conviction, but because it pays to have influence. Leaving the public ripped off in the process.
