Tory ghouls are going after disabled people on DWP benefits, again

The ghouls in the Conservative Party are going after disabled kids and carers with their latest vile plan to ‘fix’ disability benefits issued by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The BBC reports that the Tories have said they would reform the household benefit cap to stop disabled people getting what they claim are ‘unlimited welfare payments’.

DWP are already unfit for purpose

The household benefit cap is, as the name suggests, a limit on the total amount of benefit payments most households with working-age adults can claim.

The exemption to this rule though, is households where someone claims a disability-related DWP benefit. These include Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance for kids.

Households with someone on Universal Credit are also exempt from the cap currently. This applies to people who get UC and can’t work under LCWRA, and those who get it because they care for a disabled person. It also doesn’t apply to those on Universal Credit if their household has a combined monthly income over £881.

However, being the heartless cunts they are, the Tories say they would only exempt households from the cap if all adults who ‘can’ work do. And of course, they’d be the ones getting to decide who could and couldn’t work that if they miraculously got back in power.

According to DWP figures, 111,000 households are affected by the cap, with the average monthly reduction in universal credit per capped household being £241.

But Badenoch wants even more to suffer, in particular, disabled people and their families. Badenoch said the plans would:

Stop those who abuse the system getting almost unlimited welfare payments

Ghouls

The Tories want to force 400,000 more disabled people and their families into benefit caps, which would mean caps on care, housing support and support paying bills such as council tax. They claim this would save around £1.2 billion, but is this worth the extra stress it would place on the NHS and local services?

Is it worth disabled people’s fucking lives? Because beyond ‘savings’, these are real people whose lives would be made significantly worse, families plunged into even further debt, and carers pushed to breaking point.

Carers who already spend every hour they can caring for their loved ones would be forced into work, meaning the pressure would go back onto local services, or disabled people could be dangerously left isolated.

Disabled people already at the bottom of the heap will be forced into work that could kill them, cause them to starve to death or end their own lives. Like so many of our community have.

This is on top of the Tories wanting to reinstate the two-child benefit cap. Simply put, they want to keep poor people down and never let us get above our stations. The same cap lifting which brought 450,000 kids out of poverty.

Labour love to steal Tory ideas

All this, of course, hinges on the Tories reclaiming power, which, let’s be honest, isn’t fucking happening any time soon.

But we should still be worried about this as, in the race to beat Reform, Labour and the Tories will try to outdo each other with who can appeal to the worst of the British public. So this could soon be repackaged as a Labour idea.

Labour is already forcing more and more disabled people into work, cutting benefits for new claimants, coming for young disabled people and continuing to fail carers.

Give it a few months, and Labour will be making it their plan. That’s because Labour don’t sing from the Tory’s hymn sheet: they wrote the whole book on hating disabled people.

So the only people to come anywhere near this cap are those on enhanced PIP and LCWA. The most vulnerable. These ghouls think disability is easy to get. Its absolutely not. Its hard. And takes a toll on your mental health just getting what you are entitled to. I won’t have council carers after being robbed twice so my husband cares full time. I have boweland lung tumours yet because hes an immigrant we can’t get carers allowance. The whole system penalises the most vulnerable because we are useless to a capitalist society.

We absolutely are not useless, in spending the social security we’re given we fulfil a crucial economy function https://www.economania.co.uk/various-authors/why-social-security.htm

The Tories & Reform/Restore are all just seining their dicks at this point. They can make all & any wild irrational claims in the sure knowledge that even if they they get into power no-one will be able to hold them accountable for them – just look at what Labour promised & didn’t deliver.
