Amrit Wilson is an award-winning writer, journalist and activist. Her work has focused on issues of race and gender in Britain and South Asian politics. She is the author of six books including Finding a Voice: Asian Women in Britain (Virago 1978) which won the Martin Luther King Award and Dreams Questions Struggles, South Asian Women in Britain (Pluto Press, 2006).
Finding a Voice, Asian women in Britain was republished by Daraja Press in 2018 in an extended form. It remains an influential feminist text. She has also written extensively about Hindu supremacism, for example, in her essay, Hindutva and its relationship with Zionism, Daraja Press 2023 and her articles in publications including The Guardian, Open Democracy and Byline Times.
Amrit is also a co-founder of South Asia Solidarity Group (SASG) South Asia Solidarity Group an anti-imperialist, anti-racist organization based in Britain.
