Will Liverpool pay £160 million for Mohamed Salah’s successor?

Speculation continues regarding the future of Liverpool’s Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, as the club approaches a pivotal phase that could see major changes to the Reds’ attack, prompting former club legend Emile Heskey to offer his views on potential replacements.

Although he insisted that fully replacing Salah is “almost impossible”, Heskey has put forward three prominent names to take on the role should the Egyptian star leave, led by Paris Saint-Germain’s Georgian player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, alongside England’s Jarrod Bowen and the American Christian Pulisic.

Kvaratskhelia the top choice despite huge cost

According to comments reported by the English newspaper Metro, Kvaratskhelia is considered the most likely option from a technical standpoint to lead Liverpool’s attack, given his exceptional dribbling, playmaking and scoring abilities.

However, the potential deal appears financially complex, with media estimates suggesting that persuading Paris Saint-Germain to let the player go could require an offer of around £160 million, making it one of the most expensive potential deals in the transfer market.

Liverpool have less expensive alternatives

As for the other candidates, Heskey believes Jarrod Bowen is a player who relies on teamwork and high pressing, whilst Christian Pulisic is seen as a direct and quick option capable of unsettling defences, despite his inconsistent goal-scoring form in recent years.

Heskey concluded by emphasising that Mohamed Salah remains an exceptional figure in Liverpool’s recent history, given his consistent goal-scoring record and decisive contributions, making the task of finding a suitable replacement extremely difficult, even with several options available on the market.
