Fast approaching its one-year anniversary, Keir Starmer’s Labour Party government has been one car crash after another. Things are getting truly farcical at this point, as every interview sees senior Labour figures being shamed on multiple fronts. This was very much the case when Victoria Derbyshire and Trevor Phillips grilled Wes Streeting on Sunday 29 June:
After Wes Streeting explains why Keir Starmer is such a wonderful leader, Victoria Derbyshire asks, why is he so unpopular? pic.twitter.com/q3KpdG1kFN

Labour’s war on disabled people
An upcoming bill will see a significant reduction to the number of disabled people who receive state support. Labour are keen to make life unliveable for disabled people so that they can spend more money on the military – all in aid of a land war we were once told could never happen because we have nukes (you’d think this would mean we could stop spaffing money on the nuclear deterrent, but no – we still need to spend billions on it even though we’re now saying it won’t deter anything).
As for tax cuts on the ultra-wealthy elites who are bleeding this country dry, Labour don’t seem to have considered that option. This is speculation on our part, but perhaps that has something to do with all the donation money they’ve taken from the ultra-wealthy elites who are bleeding this country dry.

Host Derbyshire put it to Wes Streeting that Labour’s intention is ensure fewer disabled people have access to Personal Independence Payments (PIP):
“The bottom line is, you want fewer disabled people in receipt of PIP" @vicderbyshire #bbclaurak pic.twitter.com/LycNpxqt3r

Streeting squirmed and refused to give a straight answer, but he did broadly agree with the point. This is terrible news for disabled people, but great news for those with more money than they could spend in a million lifetimes.
As bad as Streeting came across, however, it could have been worse, as people pointed out:
Disappointed that @vicderbyshire hasn’t pulled Streeting up on failed reassessments not being protected. #TakingThePIP

Streeting also did the thing a lot of Labour representatives are doing now which is to just openly lie:
Streeting says the 'right to try work' is in the bill.
The 'right to try work' is not in the UC & PIP Bill.
It is not what MPs will be voting on on Tuesday.#TakingThePIP #WelfareBill pic.twitter.com/ZDjp7WecsV
— benfolley (@benfolley) June 29, 2025
The four-point eligibility rule for PIP does not currently exist.
It will be voted on in the UC & PIP Bill on Tuesday.
Streeting says four point eligibility will be reviewed in Timms PIP assessment review but the govt has not made that commitment.#TakingThePIP #WelfareBill pic.twitter.com/tmIuFsQiT2

Streeting is lying. PIP is not an out of work benefit. Live on TV. #BBCLauraK

Many sick and disabled people who claim PIP do also work, but Labour don’t want you to know that, because they think it’s easier to turn the public against people who can’t work than people who can work a bit. With that sort of mindset, it’s no surprise that Streeting would think like this:
Wes Streeting giving the impression he thinks people currently on PIP will be ok with ‘concessions’ Gov made because their income won’t currently be impacted. Might be how some politicians think, happy to pull the ladder up beneath them, but not how decent human beings think

Defending the perpetrators of a genocide
Wes Streeting is also being criticised for his opinion on the ‘Death to the IDF’ chant which took place at Glastonbury and was broadcast by the BBC.
Streeting says Glastonbury detracts from the famine & humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza
The govt is supporting, arming & militarily assisting Israel. Every minister is covered in the blood of dead Palestinian kids, & that includes you. You think people are just going to forget? pic.twitter.com/p14TheZB4J

Wes Streeting thinks people chanting "Death to the IDF" is appalling and both the BBC & Glastonbury have things to answer.
What's appalling is the UK govt, of which Streeting is a member, supporting, arming & militarily assisting Israel while it commits genocide. pic.twitter.com/NHuUGgLly7

For those who don’t know, the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) is the military which has been waging a genocide against the people of Palestine. This is recent reporting on what that looks like in practice (reporting from Al Jazeera):
Israeli soldiers have deliberately shot at unarmed Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza after being “ordered” to do so by their commanders, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports.
At least 549 Palestinians have been killed and 4,066 injured while waiting for food aid distributed at sites run by the Israeli-and United States-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the Gaza Government Media Office said on Thursday. The GHF has been a source of widespread criticism since its establishment in May.
According to the Haaretz report, which quoted unnamed Israeli soldiers, troops were told to fire at the crowds of Palestinians and use unnecessary lethal force against people who appeared to pose no threat.
“We fired machineguns from tanks and threw grenades,” one soldier told Haaretz. “There was one incident where a group of civilians was hit while advancing under the cover of fog.”
In another instance, a soldier said that where they were stationed in Gaza, between “one and five people were killed every day”.
“It’s a killing field,” that soldier said.
Being interviewed, Streeting argued that cheering for death is bad in any context:
All life is sacred. And I find it pretty revolting we’ve got to a stage in this conflict where you’re supposed to sort of cheer on one side or the other like it’s a football team.
He also had some criticism for Israel, saying:
I wish they’d take the violence of their own citizens towards Palestinians more seriously.
You might read this and think this Streeting guy is a reasonable voice in all this, but in politics you have to focus on actions, not words. Streeting is, after all, a member of a government which is directly supporting Israel’s alleged genocide with weapons, money, and politicking.
We’re sure many of you feel like it’s bad to chant for the death of soldiers just like it’s bad to directly support a genocide, but it’s clear that one of these things is much worse, and that this support is directly contributing to the systematic extermination of an entire people.
Wes Streeting thinks people chanting "Death to the IDF" is appalling.. whilst 50k children alone have been killed and thousands more being starved to death. As.we.speak.
Ok. Let's have an open and honest conversation-
Everybody knows what's happening in Gaza , everybody knows… pic.twitter.com/Ya92oO6THU— Narinder Kaur (@narindertweets) June 29, 2025
Wes Streeting condemns chants of “Death to the IDF,” but ignores that the UK govt has sold £4bn in arms to IZraEl since 2015, fuelling a conflict that’s displaced 2 million Palestinians. Hypocrisy exposed. #BBCLauraK #TrevorPhillips pic.twitter.com/6b43r2YUNQ

Wes Streeting and the adults in the room
Wes Streeting and Labour want to present themselves as serious, grown-up politicians who are trying to find practical solutions which benefit everyone. The reality is that they’re ghouls who are willfully attacking less-fortunate people at home and abroad for the benefit of private interests and a genocidal regime.

All life is precious, then really fund the NHS and stop the ludicrous amount of privatisation, Wes Streeting is only there for the donations or what I call bribe money, it makes me sick just to listen to a man not fit for purpose being the health and social care secretary.
