In a sign of how hollow power can be once confronted, a Wicklow hotel has cancelled a Peter Thiel led event after a relatively brief campaign from Irish activists.
A collection of the world’s most despicable ruling class parasites were set to infest the Powerscourt Hotel as part of a conference run by a secretive group called Dialog. Co-founded by tyranny advocate and genocide backer Thiel in 2006, Dialog were set to use the meeting just south of Dublin to discuss topics entitled Navigating WWIII, Battlefield Technologies and Build-a-Cult.
That list of talks gets even more sinister when you know Dialog’s members include General Alexus Grynkewich, supreme allied commander of warmongering military alliance NATO; Nazi trillionaire Elon Musk; would-be plunderer of Palestine Jared Kushner; and additional Trump admin lackeys such as US treasury secretary Scott Bessent and senator Ted Cruz.
Ghoulish Peter Thiel is co-founder of genocidal Palantir
However, after initially courting power, Powerscourt has reversed course and decided it doesn’t want to be used as the venue for a pack of evil creeps to work out how they can further carve up the planet between them. According to the Irish Times, in response to questions, a spokesperson for the venue said:
Powerscourt Hotel Resort and Spa confirms that a publicised event scheduled to take place in August will now not be taking place at the hotel. We have no further comment.
No hotel in Ireland, or anywhere else, should countenance hosting anything linked to a vile character like Peter Thiel. He is the co-founder and current chairman of Palantir, a uniquely sinister fixture of the US military-industrial complex that revels in its capacity to assist mass murder on behalf of Washington.
Its CEO Alex Karp never shuts up about his pride in killing people, and Palantir had been a key part of so-called ‘Israel’s’ holocaust in Gaza. Karp’s book The Technological Republic, summarised by Palantir, is one of the best examples of a ruling class now so confident in their impunity, they can express their evil intentions openly to the world.
Palantir and other plutocratic ghouls getting a figurative punch in the mouth is therefore hugely welcome. When Irish independent media outlet the Ditch first revealed that Powerscourt was set to be the venue, activists immediately started campaigning to get the sinister cabal’s get-together called off. Pro-Palestine group North Wicklow Against Genocide declared “Genociders not welcome here” and called for a boycott of the hotel. Activists began to bombard the social media pages of the hotel and hammer its phone lines.
“Direct action works!”
Others staged a direct action at the hotel itself, occupying the lobby and chanting “Dialog has got to go”. Such an approach is particularly effective for the likes of five-star hotels like Powerscourt, who trade on the notion of providing a sedate atmosphere in plush surroundings. Nothing shatters that quite like 20 activists storming in with a loudspeaker and placards.
The Drop Dialog campaign put out a press statement celebrating the victory, where they declared:
Power to the people as tech billionaires forced to cancel Dialog conference at Powerscourt Hotel
They described it as:
…a victory for all people of conscience who mobilised against it and [showed] that direct action works!
They went on to urge all other hotels in Ireland to refuse hosting for the event, or the campaign would switch focus to them.
It seems the hotel may have also come under pressure from the owners of the land it sits on, Powerscourt Estate. As explained by the Irish Times:
The hotel is owned and operated by the MHL Hotel Collection, a long-standing tenant of the Powerscourt Estate.
Powerscourt Estate in turn is owned by the British sporting goods moguls, the Slazenger family. A statement put out by Powerscourt Estate seemed to suggest they may have leaned on the hotel to call the whole sorry business off:
Following a period of great concern for Powerscourt Estate and on foot of discussions with The Powerscourt Hotel, we are relieved and pleased to announce the Dialog event planned for August at the Powerscourt Hotel has been cancelled.
Powerscourt Estate wish to thank all of those who supported us through this difficult and challenging time. Including our staff, neighbours, friends, supporters and legal team.
If there was pressure from the Estate, however, it would likely never have come without the ceaseless campaign from activists.
It’s hard to believe Thiel and co. won’t find somewhere in the world to host their scheming, though anything that disrupts that is clearly welcome. Perhaps the main win is the publicity around the event, and the reminder that such scheming takes place.
Next time someone scoffs about “plotting in dark smoke-filled rooms”, you can say that while you can’t confirm levels of light or nicotine, Powerscourt proves the rich and powerful do indeed get together in secret, and it’s not for anyone’s benefit but their own.
