First thing on 7 May, two activists from People Against Genocide locked on outside the London headquarters of Chubb.

This is the fifth recent action against Chubb by People Against Genocide. The group is targeting the firm because it insures UAV Engines of Shenstone in Staffordshire. UAV is a subsidiary of Israel’s biggest weapons company, Elbit Systems. Elbit produces 85% of the Israeli military’s killer drone fleet, and its land-based military equipment.

Chubb provides UAV with the Employer Liability Insurance without which they would have to cease operations in the UK, and stop producing engines for the killer drones. They include the R902(W) Wankel engine used in Elbit’s Hermes 450 drone, the same model used by Israel, to kill seven aid workers from the World Central Kitchen, including 3 British nationals.

Having effectively disrupted Chubb’s business, the two People Against Genocide activists called for supporters to attend at the site.

A spokesperson for People Against Genocide said:

Elbit Systems builds Israeli weapons in Britain which are used to commit genocide in Gaza. They do this with completely impunity and with the backing of firms like Chubb Insurance. Without the insurance provided by the firm, Elbit’s criminal operations in Britain would not be possible.

Direct action forced Aviva and Allianz to stop insuring Elbit Systems. Now it’s time for Chubb to follow suit, and drop Elbit.
