Letters to the Canary: what do you think of GB News?

The Canary receives a lot of emails from members and subscribers, on various topics – which the team are really grateful for. We always aim to respond. However, we thought what a waste it was that we’re the only ones that get to read your opinions and musings on politics, society, and the world. So, in December 2022 we decided it was time for a weekly letters page – exclusively for members.
Since then, thanks to the response from so many people we’ve opened up our letters page to everyone who reads the Canary.
Letters to the Canary: our platform is your platform
It’s fairly straightforward. We want letters of no more than 400 words on a subject that fits Canary values and is related to news and politics. Ideally, we’d like your thoughts on our articles or something that’s currently in the news – as we want the page to spark debate. For example, our coverage of armed cops dropping their weapons after one of their own was charged with murdering Chris Kaba sparked a lot of comments. Meanwhile, GB News has been in the news a lot – and our coverage of it sparked emails. So – why not write us a letter and have your say too?
Please note that caveats apply as they do for our writers:
1. We will not publish anything that we consider discriminatory, abusive or containing hate speech.
2. Sending a letter for publication does not guarantee we publish it.
3. We won’t be paying for letters.
4. The Canary reserves the right to edit your letters as we see fit.
You’re free to swear if you wish, and also free to respond to other members’ letters as well. To give you an idea of what other people have written, you can read previous editions of the letters page here.
So, off you go! Email your letters to [email protected] – then every Saturday we’ll publish a selection of them. Our platform is also your platform. Get writing and we look forward to seeing what you come up with!

We know everyone is suffering under the Tories - but the Canary is a vital weapon in our fight back, and we need your support
The Canary Workers’ Co-op knows life is hard. The Tories are waging a class war against us we’re all having to fight. But like trade unions and community organising, truly independent working-class media is a vital weapon in our armoury.
The Canary doesn’t have the budget of the corporate media. In fact, our income is over 1,000 times less than the Guardian’s. What we do have is a radical agenda that disrupts power and amplifies marginalised communities. But we can only do this with our readers’ support.
So please, help us continue to spread messages of resistance and hope. Even the smallest donation would mean the world to us.

Well what I think is G.B. NEW HAVE MORE
Tory M.P. working for them than Sunak and public voters would like
this is turning G.B.news into a Tory political show (programme) ONLY
**
Ever one of Tory M.P. on the show have failed their voters
by voters for policy not fully understanding the damage they will do
to us British people that put them in Govt jobs to serves us NOT G.B. news.
**
So I say to all Tory M.P. doing 2 job in Govt now will not get you
voters back power next G.E.
You have failed our country plus Brexit so will pay the the price next G.E.
Tory M.P. for your failing in Govt has elected M.P. to serve us voters.
GBN is nothing more than a fascist press office to back up the original fascist press office, the BBC. Thankfully I gave up my TV in 2004 and my only contact is through the brief clips shown on YouTube which quite frankly is minutes too many taken from my life as a consequence of MP’s using GBN as a political forum making policy announcements (that should be raised in both Houses) and that they are; by their own HoC rules & regulations, prohibited from using the TV channel as a political platform. JRM being the main culprit to abandon all that he sees as being restrictive to be able to continue to exercise his second anal sphincter.
After Alex Jones was kicked off several social media sites, several left wing organizations were kicked off as well. GB news has a point of view. So does the Canary. If GB news was closed down, the Canary might follow.
