Video: far-right MEP tells Gaza flotilla veteran MEP “Go back home” for opposing genocide

Staggering displays of arrogance and naked racism from Israel supporters are hardly unusual, but every now and then one says something that still manages to make the jaw drop. Like far-right French MEP Marion Maréchal – formerly known as Marion le Pen, niece of fascist French politician Marine le Pen, on Thursday.

Maréchal boasted to Muslim MEP Rima Hassan, a courageous veteran of two humanitarian flotilla voyages to Gaza and the abuse and imprisonment inflicted on her and her fellow volunteers by her Israeli abductors, that ‘we’ “generously welcomed your family as refugees”, then told her that Hassan is “betray[ing] our generosity” by opposing Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which Maréchal called “sowing hate and discord”:

In the eyes of the racist right – and the racist pro-Israel right most of all – opposing mass murder, ethnic cleansing and deliberate starvation is “hate and discord”, while the slaughterers and war criminals are to be supported and defended no matter how hideous their evil.

Israel is a terror state – and the ‘betrayal’ is by those who support and enable its terrorism. If only those collaborators weren’t also in Downing Street.
