A ‘hot’ microphone has picked up US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers waiting for an event organised by their boss, Donald Trump’s Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem. They can be heard discussing how “terrified” they are of their own leadership and how exhaustion has taken over their lives.

Mixed in with banalities about shopping at a well-known DIY store, the officers can be heard talking about their deep fear and exhaustion.

I used to be terrified of [her] when I started in HR, I was so scared of her.

Kristi Noem is known as the “puppy killer” for deciding to shoot a dog she considered ‘untrainable’. She is at the centre of a financial scandal after Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett accused her, during a hearing last month, of funnelling more than $200m to a firm linked to friends:

Political commentator Brian Allen said of the US transportation workers’ comments:

The administration is selling stability. Its own workforce is whispering collapse.
