Hypocrite Tory Senedd member kicked out for ‘talking to Reform’

The Tories have expelled a leading Senedd member from the party for ‘talking to’ Reform UK. James Evans has also lost his shadow health secretary role as a consequence. He is on record condemning other Tories for defecting to Reform.

Welsh Tory leader Darren Millar said that Evans told him he was in discussions with Reform about the possibility of defecting, despite having previously assured his boss that he had rejected Reform’s approach.

In a statement, Evans confirmed he had been expelled and said the Tory party no longer represents his values. Welsh Tory leader Millar is a hardline xenophobe who rants about immigration and UK party leader Kemi Badenoch is a hardline xenophobe who rants about immigration and dismisses racism and colonialism. So presumably Evans wants a party with even more colonialism and rabid ranting about immigration and race.

Evans has previously slammed both the leader of his putative new party and those who defected from the Tories to join it. Last summer he accused Senedd member Laura Anne Jones of having no principles when she defected to Reform. He has previously said that Nigel Farage will “say anything to get a vote”.

In a statement, Evans said that he is “taking some time in the coming weeks to consider my political future”. That’s one way to say ‘waiting for a call from Farage.’
