Labour lie-truck toured Gorton and Denton smearing Greens on polling day

Labour’s desperate, dirty tricks in the Gorton and Denton by-election took a disgraceful new turn on polling day 26 February 2026.

The party had already been caught out delivering leaflets purportedly from a fake ‘tactical voting’ organisation — that it had made up — to try to scam voters into avoiding Green party candidate Hannah Spencer. But on the day local voters went to the ballot box, it toured the constituency with a video truck playing a string of lies against Spencer and party leader Zack Polanski.

The smears were a clear attempt to use locals’ children to scare them away from the Greens — a sick irony given the all-pervasive presence of paedophiles and other sex offenders among Starmer’s faction:

It’s not the first time Labour has resorted to such scandalous tactics. In 2023, the party waged a sewer-level smear campaign against independent left-winger Sam Gorst in Garston in South Liverpool.

That campaign backfired when Gorst and his colleague Lucy Williams trounced Labour in what had previously been a stronghold. It failed hariously in Gorton and Denton, too.

Labour have finally cheapened itself to the worst tactics, it use to be such a great party for the people now it’s just another of those corrupt low parties under Starmer. Shameful.

In the UK, the Representation of the People Act governs election conduct, including the dissemination of information by political parties and candidates. But honestly they seem to be allowing the Reform leaflet with the imprint because they ruled it as inadvertent and did not warrant sanctions, so I expect they would do no different with Labour. Mt personal take is they allow a certain amount because it’s happened for years, but I’m cynical about political shenanigans because they have turned a blind eye too many times in the past.

This is so low I can hardly believe it is true! I am completely disenchanted with Labour, so this is not a defence. But surely these scurrilous accusations are below the lowest bar? Is this definitely true?

I know and I had been a long-time Labour voter since being allowed to vote I was always voteing :abour right up to when Starmer started removing the left, I was worried just like being an orphan at 61 years old, even more so when Farage and Reform started gaining traction.

Labour are now so-steeped in their play-list of dirty tricks that they don’t know anything else.
I suppose they could try honesty ……

Video vans are quite expensive to hire, it was probably hired at short notice and so the party’s spending on the local election should be looked in to by police. Has the registration number of the vehicle been recorded and passed to police to investigate?

I heard that the Green Party, in an act of appalling cynicism, printed some of its leaflets in English in a desperate attempt to appeal to English-speaking voters!
