Jeremy Corbyn has demanded Zionist Foreign Office minister Hamish Falconer retract his “disgraceful”, “disgusting” response to Corbyn’s question about burgeoning settler violence in the apartheid colony.
Corbyn is not having it
In the Commons, Falconer had suggested Corbyn’s question was “antisemitic”

But Corbyn wasn’t in the mood to take Falconer’s ‘hasbara’ talking-point smear:

In a searing letter to the Starmeroid shill, he told Falconer that he will be raising a formal ‘point of order’ to demand a retraction:
Dear Hamish Falconer,
I am writing in response to your disgraceful answer to my question regarding Israel’s planned illegal expansion in the E1 zone in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
My question, which asked for the UK government to stop all arms trade and military cooperation with Israel, was worded very clearly:
“All this hand-wringing over the E1 zone is very important, but in reality what is happening is part of the greater Israel plan. Israel already controls 70% of the Gaza strip; it is squeezing the whole population into the sea or into Egypt. It is already supporting, by military means, all the activities of the settlers, their abominable behaviour towards Palestinian people, and the construction of massive settlements all over the west bank. In reality, it is Israel’s strategy, Israel’s plan and Israel’s determination that we are up against. Merely condemning Israel for this occupation of E1 will achieve nothing. There has to be a policy of stopping all arms trading and military coÂoperation of any sort with Israel until it ends this settlement policy. Anything less will just be hand-wringing that the Israeli Government will ignore.
“In response, you told the House:”I do not think the policy of settlements is supported across the whole of Israel. That is very clear in the discussions about the coming elections. There are many voices in Israel who recognise the terrible harm being done to the state of Israel by the expansion of settlements. I hope you will forgive me, Madam Deputy Speaker, if I come back to the point about antisemitism. We must be really careful in our language. There are many, many Israelis-and indeed many, many British Jews-who can see the terrible damage being done by violent settlement, and we must not tar communities in this country or the whole nation of Israel with the same brush.”
This is a shocking response, which wilfully misrepresents and distorts my words in an attempt to avoid answering the question I had put to you.
It was clear that I was commenting on the strategy, determination and actions of the Israeli government in expanding illegal settlements and supporting the activities of settlers. In making this statement, I reflected the findings of various human rights organisations, including Amnesty International whose recent report found that: “settler violence is not an aberration but an integral part of an organized state policy.”
It is plainly false -and frankly disgusting -to imply that my statement served to “tar communities in this country” with “the same brush.” At no point did I state that settlements are supported by the entirety of the population of Israel. Nor did I make any reference to British Jews at all. In levelling such a baseless accusation, you appear to have conflated the actions of Israel with the views of Jewish people -itself a textbook case of antisemitism.
I intend to raise this as a Point of Order at the earliest opportunity. Please can you return to the House of Commons and retract your shameful smear, and answer my question: in light of Israel’s planned expansion of illegal settlements, when will the government end all trading and military co-operation with Israel?
We are witnessing some of the most appalling violence and inhumanity against the Palestinian people -and we will not stop campaigning until the British government ends its shameful complicity in apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Falconer has not yet responded. If presumptive leader Andy Burnham keeps him in post when he takes over, it will disgrace both of them.
