Tommy Robinson endorses Reform’s Matt Goodwin for GM byelection

As we’ve reported, Reform’s candidate for Gorton & Denton is the academic and establishment insider Matt Goodwin. The constituency has a high percentage of black and minority ethnic voters (44%) — people that Goodwin has suggested are ‘not British’. This is already creating a problem for Goodwin, and it won’t help that he’s has now attracted the support of England’s most notorious far-right activist:

Little Tommy Robinson

As we previously reported, Generation Remigration spoke at Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally. ‘Remigration’ is the plan to mass deport migrants and their descendants from European countries. And as we said at the time:

We’re not quite sure how that will work in Britain given the continuous influxes of populations we’ve experienced since the Roman Empire, except we are sure, obviously – they’re talking about deporting Black and brown people.

Tommy Robinson’s friends would happily deport 44% of the Gorton & Denton population; so would Robinson, presumably, given his continued promotion of remigration:

It can’t feel good for the residents of Gorton & Denton to know the Reform candidate is supported by those who would deport them or their neighbours. Honestly, though, ‘deport’ isn’t the right word here; we’re talking about ethnic cleansing.

Robinson’s movement have also proven to be a danger in other ways too:

Remember, not only has ‘Tommy’ never managed to expose one single grooming gang member, ‘Robinson’ has also failed to ever call out those closest to him for having an unhealthy sexual interest in children.

Opposition

Labour MPs are drawing attention to the Robinson-Goodwin connection, with Anna Turley demanding that Reform’s man distances himself from the far right (or further far right, anyway):

The problem is Labour blocked their best chance of winning in Gorton & Denton – namely Andy Burnham. As such, it’s hard to believe they’re serious about winning. The Green’s, meanwhile, are running a Mancunian plumber who’s saying things besides ‘vote for me or get Reform‘:

As Spencer herself wrote for Huffington Post:

We are not a poor country, we’re not a poor city – but government after government has treated us poorly. I see that in the cold homes, the repairs that people save up for months to do and the struggle that so many of us have with our mental health.

That’s why my number one priority will always be taking action to cut the cost of living – cheaper bills through public ownership, rent controls, free bus travel for young people. Insulating homes properly.

While Reform refuse to make the richest in our society pay their fair share, and flirt with privatising the NHS, I’ll be a champion for slashing inequality, re-wiring our economy to work for all of us and giving people the physical and mental healthcare they need.
