Suspect charged over fatal shootings amid US protests against racism and police brutality

A 17-year-old has been charged over the fatal shooting of two people and the wounding of a third amid protests against a police attack which left a Black man with severe spinal injuries.

Demonstrations began in Kenosha, Wisconsin and were taken up by major sport leagues and prominent athletes across the US after Jacob Blake was shot in the back.

Kyle Rittenhouse allegedly went to Kenosha from nearby Antioch, Illinois and went on a shooting rampage. He faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, one count of first-degree reckless homicide, one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.

Kenosha police have faced questions about their interactions with the gunman on 25 August. According to witness accounts and video footage, police apparently let Rittenhouse walk past them and leave the scene with a rifle over his shoulder and his hands in the air, as members of the crowd yelled for him to be arrested because he had shot people.

He would face a mandatory life sentence if convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, the most serious crime in Wisconsin.

Kenosha has become the latest focal point in the fight against racial injustice that has gripped the country since the 25 May death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

The Wisconsin Justice Department said Rusten Sheskey, a seven-year veteran of the Kenosha Police Department, shot Blake while holding onto his shirt after officers first unsuccessfully used a Taser.

Blake, 29, was shot in the back seven times as he leaned into his vehicle, three of his children seated inside.

Kenosha police have said little about what happened other than that they were responding to a domestic dispute.

NBA play-off teams are poised to discuss the competition’s next steps after matches were postponed for a second successive day following protests against the incident and racial injustice.

Jacob Blake is yet another example of the US police force’s racism. His behaviour was not threatening. Teachers deal with worse every day. It is ingrained in the mentality of the police that if a black person is not submissive, America is under threat. And then we have teenage vigilantes who think the rule of law means nothing. US culture has never lived up to its claim of equality before the law. The peaceful protests must go in until it does

Erm, fighting Police, continuing to resist arrest despite Taser deployment then running to a car where he had a knife (with his kids in the car) all sounds threatening to me. Add to that that Police knew he had a previous Felony for firearms possession. The guy was a convicted sex offender and domestic violence perpetrator. Why do the left continue to stand up for these scumbags?
The 17 year old, Kyle will be cleared. The video showing him putting out a dumpster fire that had been set and was about to be pushed into vehicles is damning. It shows him putting it out before being pursued by the agitated left wing protestors. Again, the protestors were all convicted criminals, including Huber who was a convicted child sex offender. The guy who’s arm was blown to bits had a pistol and made a statement in hospital that he regretted not shooting the kid in the head.
Still no article from The Canary on the Patriot Prayer guy executed by BLM….Still no article on Cannon Hinant, the 5 year old white boy shot in the back of the head by a black male. Disgusting.

It takes a special kind of derangement (yours clearly goes to 11 btw) to believe that a psycho killer deserves to walk free because he saved a bin and a couple of cars prior to rampaging through the streets shooting anybody unlucky enough to be caught in his sights. The guy is a far-right, white supremacist murderer who put two people in the ground and wrecked their families lives for nothing other than his own sick amusement. I’d bet good money on his twisted hatred/fear of people who stand up for fairness and equality being exactly the same as yours. Disgusting? You sure are.

And Peaceful Protests….do you work for CNN? Burning down businesses, looting and beating people isn’t peaceful. And a reminder, BLM have killed more black people than cops have this year.

DRS I seriously doubt any of the rant above is true. You should get help, your hallucinations are getting worse.

Questions must be asked as to why the police there did not let the boy back to the store where he’d been “guarding” lol, but then ALSO did not escort the boy out to somewhere safe away from the troubles.

A 17yr old with an assault rifle may be LEGAL over there, but surely common-sense is too?

    What a F*kin mess.

Gets much worse, and the right wing paranoidz will be accusing MI6 of stirring trouble in the US to bring the country back under the Crown.

    [We’re not, right? o.O]
