The Canary has been debanked by Lloyds. Despite banking with them for almost a decade they are currently withholding a substantial amount of our money. We are left with barely any funds.

Lloyds has not explained why it has taken this action. Despite multiple communications from us, the bank has not been forthcoming with its reasoning.

The Canary is now in a financially precarious situation. We do not know when our money that Lloyds is holding will be returned. Moreover, we do not know how it will affect our ability to get another bank account in the future.

Lloyds give no explanation

We do know that multiple other politically engaged people have suffered similar actions by other banks in recent times. It is not lost on us that powerful banks are able to restrict the financial activity of anti-Zionist and pro-Palestine organisations and individuals. Whilst we do not currently know the reasons behind our debanking, we cannot afford to be naive about this.

It is an outrage that the Canary has been unceremoniously dropped into financial instability with no notice or explanation from Lloyds.

Independent media targeted

Our situation is a damning indictment of the treatment of independent media in this country – whereby you can be potentially ruined without recourse by banking giants like Lloyds.

At this moment, we do not have enough cash to pay all our staff – again, because Lloyds is holding so much of our money.

Our situation highlights just how at risk independent media is at all times. We need your support constantly. But we also need it now more than ever. If you can donate to keep the Canary afloat while we resolve our debanking crisis, then you can do so here.

This is shocking. Banks are increasingly using this tactic to enforce their view of the world. It should be illegal for a bank to withhold monies from its customers unless there is a valid reason in law such as prevention of financial crime or to comply with a court or police order. I have sold my shares in Lloyds (these date back to the time the building societies were demutulaised) and used the proceeds to subscribe to your august organ.

I’d suggest these are the very reasons for Lloyd’s taking action. POCA prevents any banking institute from publicly detailing reasons for them taking action against organisations. I’m afraid The Canary may have to answer to the courts for this one. Good bye The Canary hopefully.

You would do well to remember Primo Levi’s ‘..first they came..’ It’s easy to turn a blind eye to this or even encourage it when it’s against someone or something you dissagree with. But what happens when it’s you? It’s then far too late to wish you’d taken a stand based on principle, rather than self interest.

This is akin to highway robbery in which your money is not yours and being held with no recourse to justice.

It shows without any doubt this is why government wants to get rid of cash as they can use it to abuse freedom of speech etc.

Surely there are laws/regulations against banks treating you like this? Have you complained to the Financial Services Ombudsman or the FCA?

If this had happened to Farage, it would have been all over the MSM for weeks. Not much help right now, but banking ombudsman for a start, and submit a claim for punitive damages if they has been done for political reasons. Stonks of Labour Together again.

“ “Banks can generally close any accounts they like. However, they must treat customers fairly. This means giving reasonable notice and never closing accounts due to unfair bias or unlawful discrimination, such as race, religion and political beliefs.

Businesses and individuals can take complaints about bank account closures to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). “

It is time perhaps to launch a legal case in the courts against Lloyd’s Bank who have had to kowtow to Noel Edmunds when they shut him off. Niger Farage moved his cash to Lloyd’s when Coutts suspended his account. I’m happy to send cash to your postal address to fight the bank.

One could ask Charlie Nunn (CEO Lloyds Banking Group Annual salary £11,544,000) why this is so… [email protected] (of course he won’t reply – he’ll have a team of minions to do so but still…be interesting to see if anyone does…).

Sorry to hear The Canary is having to go through this. Lots of digital stalking/hacking groups out there now too, sabotaging anyone human. Make appointments in person if you can, as these scummy groups will create havok with communications.

UK is corpo owned entirely, leave and let the Stop Dur Boats brigade have their tuggy-forelock-consumer-slavery. There’s a whole better world out there.

Yes, I’ll donate. Sadly nowhere near what the ever dodgy Farage gets from his backers, alas.
Have to add, am hugely disappointed, both in the actions of the increasingly oppressive state and probably moreso that having once undergone attack by these very forces, and knowing full well the length the ‘establishment’ will go to to suppress dissent, you’ve allowed yourselves to be undermined in this fashion. We know independents are targeted/arrested, we know de-banking is a tool at the states disposal yet ..
A kick up the backside for someone, I suggest!
Having said that, are there options? ..

When Nigel Farage was debanked by Coutts and transferred to NatWest, I said nothing because I was not Nigel Farage
When Laura Towler and Sam Melia was debanked by Santander, I said nothing because I hate my own people
When Tommy Robinson was debanked by every single UK Bank, I said nothing because I am not a racist (except towards White People)
When Nick Griffin and the BNP was debanked, I cheered it on because I openly despise these racists
But now I have been debanked, Dear Jesus, I don’t believe in your existence, but please, can you tell Lloyd’s to replatform me???

Not a supporter of Nigel Farage, Nick Griffin or Tommy Robinson btw, but Debanking by Lloyd’s just could not have happened to nicer people.

Ahh, so now you are the UK’s “Shadow media”, like Russia’s de-Lloyds-insured “Shadow fleet”?

Should have switched to a local credit union that offers banking services when you took over and mutualised.

When the same thing happened to Tommy Robinson, you said that cancel culture didn’t exist. It’s pleasant when bank’s weapons are used against your enemies, but why trust that banks will never use those same weapons against you?
