Trump bizarrely tells off UK over Chagos Islands, as Farage tries to cosy up

Donald Trump has just issued a bizarre rebuke for the UK government over the Chagos Islands. According to the US president, apparently we’re:

currently planning to give away the Island of Diego Garcia, the site of a vital U.S. Military Base, to Mauritius, and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER.

And, in a moment of particularly subtle statecraft, Trump proclaimed:

There is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weakness.

However, others have highlighted that Donald Trump and his own officials gave the deal their seal of approval in May 2025:

Far-right antagonist Nigel Farage has lapped it up, lauding the US veto power over the UK. Putting UK interests first again, are we Nige?

A Farage-led UK would put Trump’s interests first.

Farage, unsurprisingly, has embraced the US overriding the UK’s sovereignty over its own territory. Just like the class hanger-on cheering the aggressive bully, Farage would never have the courage to stand up to them. As it is, the racist bigot took to social media to publicly crawl up Trump’s arse:

Farage says the US was deceived, but it’s really just grown used to ignoring international norms:

The Americans have woken up to the fact that they were lied to.

They were told that the UK had no choice but to surrender the Chagos Islands. This was simply not true, and now they are angry with us.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Trump’s latest tantrum is undoubtedly an attempt to pressure the UK into supporting his batshit attempt to invade Greenland:

International law must apply universally

The US has argued that its criticism stems from concerns about the UK’s defence capabilities and their subsequent impact on US interests. But that argument is quickly disproven by Darren Jones, Chief Secretary to the PM, who told Sky News:

We’ve done a deal with the Mauritian government, we’ve legislated for the process, we’ve agreed the terms of the treaty, which has been signed. This is the way in which to secure that military base for the next 100 years.

Furthermore, the 1951 agreement between the US and Greenland allows for US military bases across the territory, yet the US has instead been seen to reduce its military footprint. The New York Times reported earlier this month on how Trump’s arguments just don’t add up when held against the realities of the existing agreement with Greenland:

Under a little-known Cold War agreement, the United States already enjoys sweeping military access in Greenland. Right now, the United States has one base in a very remote corner of the island. But the agreement allows it to “construct, install, maintain, and operate” military bases across Greenland, “house personnel” and “control landings, takeoffs, anchorages, moorings, movements, and operation of ships, aircraft, and waterborne craft.”

Now all of a sudden, Trump and the West are intent to whip up fear and risk an eternal war, using every justification until something sticks. This has always been about colonial ambition, and the President has shown his ambition and ego know no bounds:

Declassified UK challenged the arrogant perception that the Chagos Islands were ever the UK’s to ‘give away’. In a post on X, they point out that the Chagos Islands were taken in contravention of international law and illegally occupied by Britain:

While Farage revels in UK submission, Trump’s attempt to justify invading Greenland has embarrassed his own citizens:

The beast will feast on us eventually

This is the latest ridiculous attempt from Trump to justify the US continuing its foreign policy; bullying everyone to get their way. Washington is attempting to make the UK look weak and vulnerable on the world stage. This is undoubtedly an attempt to manufacture consent for its extreme acts of aggression towards sovereign countries.

Farage would make the UK the US’s ‘whipping boy,’ eager to bow to the president for attention. But sooner or later, we’d become the target of Trump’s ego and nothing would stop a hostile takeover. US interests and billionaires could move quickly to seize the NHS, and British people could lose our healthcare, welfare, and even the quality of our children’s education.

We need a leader who stands up to bullies; not one who tries to woo them. Or the beast will feast on us.
