Philadelphia law chiefs to ICE: try your shit here and you go to jail

Philadelphia’s police chief and district attorney (DA) have issued a defiant message to the Trump regime’s ‘ICE’ thugs in the wake of their murder of Minneapolis mum Renee Good: try anything here and you go to jail.

ICE agents WILL be jailed

Trump and his mini-me VP JD Vance have claimed that ICE agents have ‘absolute’ immunity from prosecution for their actions. But DA Larry Krasner warned the masked criminals that that’s not how state and city law works. Sheriff Rochelle Bilal added that no real law enforcement officer wears a mask and that any ICE ‘agent’ assaulting, harming or harassing ‘Philly’ residents would be arrested on the spot:

We are not going to whisk you away for them to hide your identity, because when you do it there, you are getting arrested there.

Will other cities in the US show similar resolve? Will Trump and his supposed ‘party of small government’ try to impose Washington’s terror and impunity on cities and states? The answer to the second is a lot clearer than the first, but if both are yes then the US may not be far from civil war.

Anyone in Philadelphia who trusts agents of the ruling class – “law chiefs” – to protect them from other agents of the same ruling class – ICE thugs – should look at how that has gone elsewhere in the USA. It’s all rhetoric. They are on the same side against the working class, and will always be so under capitalism. Larry Krasner ran on a ‘progressive prosecutor’ ticket, as if such an oxymoron exists. His own record of cracking down on the working class is no better than that of any other prosecutor.
