Palestine Action ban to stay in place as courts rule human rights protest is ‘terrorism’

The Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of home secretary Shabana Mahmood’s appeal against the High Court’s ruling that the ‘terrorism’ ban on Palestine Action was unlawful. The appeals court decided that the ban was a proportionate infringement on UK human rights and did not exceed the government’s powers.

Palestine Action

The judge reading out the decision based this judgment on the home secretary being better placed than the courts to decide what was needed – an anti-judicial coup carried out by judges, effectively. The interference of pro-Israel groups in the decision to ban the direct action group was ignored. The judge also denied that Palestine Action is comparable to the suffragettes because it used secrecy and carried out serious damage.

The suffragettes threw bombs and sent letter bombs. The dismissal of the point that the suffragettes used worse tactics and are now lauded goes a long way to illustrating today’s judgement.

Palestine Action remains a banned organisation. UK free speech and protest rights have been slashed by a corrupt government to protect Israel and the appeal court has, unsurprisingly, colluded in it.

Not remotely surprised the corrupt Appeal Court obeyed their masters the zionist/fascist Israeli terrorist state and claimed Palestine Action is a terrorist organisation!!! Next the Appeal Court will claim the IRA was not a terrorist organisation if the fascist/zionist Israeli terrorist state orders them to do so!!

Goodbye democracy and welcome to a fascist cruel and vindictive UK wherein everyone must bow down to the fascist/zionist Israeli masters and pretend the fascist IOF are not committing genocide in Gaza, the West Bank and now Lebannon!

The ruling today says more about the state of British democracy than it does about Palestine Action. When courts decide ministers are “better placed” to determine who counts as a terrorist, that’s not judicial caution — that’s judicial surrender. Rights shrink, power expands, and dissent becomes something the state feels entitled to criminalise.

You don’t have to agree with Palestine Action’s tactics to see what’s happening. A government under pressure from pro‑Israel lobbyists labels a protest movement “terrorist”, and the courts wave it through. Meanwhile, the historical reality that the suffragettes used far more extreme tactics is brushed aside because it’s politically inconvenient.

Anyone even vaguely on the Left ought to praise Palestine Action to the skies for their courage in directly attacking the weapons of genocide. This ruling shows, though, the limits of what can be achieved using direct action; it provokes imperialist states into massive reaction which penalises actionists in a manner meant to be a deterrent against it. We in the working class need our own independent, revolutionary, socialist party to overthrow this corrupt system. Something like, say, the Socialist Equality Party.

Sigh, again, the WSWS is a good news site, but the SEP will never happen in the UK, because as soon as any resistance to the MIC owned political system threatens to become effective, it will be proscribed or put down.

See Jeremy Corbyn or Palestine Action.

“The working class cannot simply lay hold of the ready-made state machinery, and wield it for its own purposes” – who said that then Airlane? So you, and the SEP, should stop doing whatever the nothing-much is that you’re doing and pursue some direct action instead.

In other news Tim Crosland’s spycop operation has now been revealed by the court of appeal. That XR and JSO and everyone involved fell for that one tells you why the ruling class all fall about laughing at the idiocy their education system has produced.

Plus the obscene sentencing of anti-genocide activists proves that the judiciary are entirely owned by the MIC. In exactly the same way as the Colourchart Uniparty No Truth (C.U.N.T.) politicians and the UK’s entire political system are.

I think it was Craig Murray who accurately predicted this result, feeling that the original High Court was designed to be easily appealed, based on extremely narrow grounds. The judiciary is corrupt from top to bottom.
