Brighton and Hove Albion is set to make history by creating Europe’s first stadium dedicated entirely to women’s football. The 10,000-seat venue is slated for completion by the 2030-2031 season. Moreover, it will be built adjacent to the club’s existing AMEX stadium. It promises to be a game-change. Facilities will be tailored specifically for female players and fans.
Game changer
The project has been hailed as a significant step in the history of women’s football. It will boast state-of-the-art facilities for players, including locker rooms and social spaces designed with families and new audiences in mind. The club’s CEO Paul Barber called it:
a powerful statement of our ambitions and will be integral to driving further momentum for the growth of women’s and girls’ football, not just in the UK but across the world.
Growth beyond the pitch
In an interview with the Guardian, Fran Kirby, former Brighton player and England international, called the project “revolutionary.” She said it’s the kind of progress players have dreamed about for years.
The stadium will provide a professional environment to help women’s football flourish on and off the pitch.
Brighton is now among a select few clubs making such investments in the women’s game. The Kansas City Current opened a similar facility in 2024. Additionally, the Denver Summit is set to follow suit by 2028.
The stadium also has strong economic potential, creating local jobs in construction and training while boosting Brighton’s standing as a hub for women’s football development. It represents a move from symbolic support to long-term structural investment — and a bold step into the future of the game.

I think you will find Manchester City did that a decade ago.
