Hero attacks US warplane with hatchet at Ireland’s Shannon airport

An absolute legend has breached security at Shannon airport and made some DIY modifications to a US military plane stationed at the genocide-enabling warport. His handiwork seems to have made some significant improvements to the death dealing monstrosity, allegedly causing “extensive” damage and putting it out of service.

Social media accounts are circulating footage showing a black clad figure on top of the aircraft, attacking it with a hatchet. Shannon Watch, who track military traffic entering and exiting Shannon, give details about the specific plane:

US Air Force C-130H Hercules 91-1653 landed at Shannon yesterday from Rosecrans Air National Guard air base St Josephs Kansas, via St. John’s Canada. It spent the night at Shannon, and hasn’t yet gone in to its next military base. #USMilitaryOutOfShannon

The terrorist US air force has used C-130s as part of its barbaric assault on Iran. Most notably, they deployed them in an attempt to rescue the war criminal F-15 pilot shot down by Iranian forces. Iran says it went one better than the Shannon hero by destroying two of the murder machines.

Brave action shuts down genocide enabling facility

The man in County Clare undertook his meritorious action at around 09:45 on Saturday April 11. The Journal reports that the move ensured:

The airport was closed for under thirty minutes following the security breach.

They continued:

Two departing flights were slightly delayed while one arriving aircraft from Lourdes was placed in a holding pattern after the crew was advised by air traffic controllers of a security breach at the airport. About 20 minutes later the aircraft was cleared for its approach and landed at 10.22am

Gardaí goons arrested the man with the assistance of a “set of mobile stairs”. In pathetic fashion, armed gardaí were also present, along with Irish Defence Forces (IDF). This needless overreaction follows an incident in which IDF members pointed guns at brave activists who previously infiltrated the warport.

It’s ironic that the Irish army have the same acronym as their ‘Israeli’ counterparts, the latter more accurately named the ‘Israeli’ Occupation Forces (IOF). It’s time we similarly rename the Irish IDF, perhaps to the Irish Overreaction Forces.

A spokesperson for the Garda said:

An adult male (aged in his 40s) was arrested for alleged criminal damage by Gardaí shortly before 11:00am and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Clare Tipperary Division. Investigations are ongoing.

The man’s actions comes not long after a fellow activist called for “more actively disruptive protests” for Palestine. Conan Kavanagh is alleged to have used a “modified fire extinguisher” to coat another US warplane with green paint on 22 November 2025. The most recent action is the fifth breach at the airport since March 2024 by pro-Palestine protestors.

Shannon airport needs shut down like oil depots were

We have previously covered revelations by The Ditch, which show:

…the Irish government admitting that Shannon has been used to ferry munitions – the tools of genocide – from the US to so-called ‘Israel’. Lately, warplanes have been landing at Shannon before heading on to Germany’s Ramstein Air Base. It is the main US staging post for its illegal assault on Iran.

Shannon Watch have said:

Since 2002 close to 3 million US troops have gone through Shannon Airport.

Recently, hauliers and farmers have staged protests highlighting fuel price rises that they say make business unsustainable. These hikes are caused by the illegal US-‘Israeli’ attack on Iran that has resulted in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and destruction of oil infrastructure. Shannon airport is the epicentre of Ireland’s complicity in these crimes, and the holocaust in Palestine. Blockading fuel supplies has split opinion, but similar action at the crime site in County Clare would delight all but Ireland’s craven ruling class.

Why have workers at Shannon Airport been for decades happily assisting the US death machine? It is impossible that they do not know what US imperialism does, particularly against children, but they don’t give a damn. So long as their wages are paid, helping detach the limbs and heads from children is no big deal. Who cares? They’re not Oirish kiddies. Irish trade unions are in profitable cahoots with US imperialism, just like most unions in Western countries.

This article highlights a serious issue about Shannon Airport’s role. It’s shocking to think that a civilian airport could be linked to conflicts like those in Iran and Palestine, as the author describes. Hopefully, incidents like this hatchet attack will push for more transparency and accountability regarding military use of the airport.‌‌‌‌
