With the FIFA Intercontinental Cup finals fast approaching, Flamengo will face Cruz Azul in the tournament’s opening match. So, the countdown has begun.

FIFA Intercontinental Cup finals are nearly here

Brazilian club Flamengo, recently crowned Copa Libertadores champions, will kick off their campaign against Mexican side Cruz Azul in the Americas Derby on 10 December in Doha.

This eagerly anticipated match marks the official start of the three final matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, which Qatar is hosting during the break in the FIFA Arab Cup, reaffirming the country’s exceptional organisational capabilities and the high level of confidence it enjoys on the international stage in hosting global tournaments.

• FIFA Qatar 2025 Americas Derby – Wednesday, 10 December 2025 | 8 p.m. Doha time: Cruz Azul (Mexico) vs. CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup 2025 champions Ahmed bin Ali Stadium

• FIFA Qatar Challenge Cup 2025 Saturday, 13 December 2025 | 8 p.m. Doha time: FIFA Americas Derby Qatar 2025 champions vs Pyramids (Egypt) Ahmed bin Ali Stadium

• FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2025 Final – Wednesday 17 December 2025 | 8pm Doha time: Paris Saint-Germain (France) vs FIFA Challenge Cup Qatar 2025 Champions Ahmed bin Ali Stadium

Qatar hosted the first edition of the new format FIFA Intercontinental Cup last year in 2024, which saw Real Madrid crowned champions at the iconic Lusail Stadium, which seats 80,000 fans and hosted the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final.

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup matches will be played during the rest days of the FIFA Arab Cup, highlighting Qatar’s exceptional capabilities in hosting more than one major tournament at the same time.
