Pro-Palestine activists in Rimini, Italy, have today disrupted the Ecomondo environmental fair to highlight the collusion of European companies with Israel and their continued economic ties with the genocidal colony.

The activists pointed out that one in twelve of the companies participating in the event directly support the occupation, exploitation and destruction of Palestinian land—yet still call themselves ‘green’:

The protesters at Ecomondo condemned the hypocrisy of these firms and the use of their products and services to advance the interests of a state guilty of the theft of Palestinian land and of systemic violence against Palestinians over decades.

According to a UN Environmental Programme report in September, during its genocide in Gaza since October 2023 Israel has:

• destroyed or damaged all of Gaza’s water purification facilities leaving access to safe drinking water “severely limited”
• destroyed Gaza’s sewage treatment infrastructure and piped sewage systems, causing increased contamination of the aquifer [underground water table] that supplies much of Gaza with water
• almost certainly caused massive damage to the marine environment, although Israel’s naval blockade prevents testing to confirm
• caused a massive surge in infection diseases including cholera and hepatitis, with the later increasing by 384 times compared to pre-genocide levels
• destroyed 97% of Gaza’s tree crops, 95% of its shrubland and 82% of its annual crops
• put 1.5 million people into a ‘food emergency’, with more than a third of those starving to death
• destroyed four out of every five buildings in Gaza, causing massive contamination and health hazards from asbestos, industrial waste and heavy metals and creating 61,000,000 tonnes of debris
• caused massive flooding by destroying vegetation, which also prevents replenishment of underground water sources
