Trump helps genocide-denying Epstein islander Dershowitz tout book

The White House has told reporters that the US would be “lucky” to have Donald Trump stand for a third term as US president. A clear breach of the US constitution, which limits presidents to two terms. Trump and his chief of staff are both on record recognising that a third term is unconstitutional, though in the revolving door of what is Trump’s brain, who knows?

Trump’s lawyer wrote a book

The question was posed because Trump’s former lawyer Alan Dershowitz gave him a draft of Dershowitz’s new book. The title of the book, you’ve guessed it, “Could President Trump Constitutionally Serve a Third Term“.

A clearer case of members of the ‘Close friends of Jeffrey Epstein’ club scratching each other’s back would be harder to imagine. In a week where a new batch of Epstein files are scheduled for release (19 Dec 2025).

Trump appeared 1,500 times in just the latest ‘document dump’ of the late paedophile’s communications by his estate. He has been seen excruciatingly trying to dismiss Epstein as a “hoax” and claim that no one is interested in the Epstein files any more. Despite campaigning for the presidency on a promise to release them in full.

Dershowitz used to be both Trump’s and Epstein’s lawyer. But he was Epstein’s friend well before he was his lawyer. He later tried to discredit Epstein’s victims and denied victim Virginia Giuffre’s claims that Dershowitz raped her. But admitted to receiving a massage at Epstein’s mansion, though he claimed he kept his underwear on.

One time on the island

He has admitted to being on Epstein’s island only once; the late Giuffre accused him of having sex with her there. At Epstein’s homes in Miami and New York and at Epstein’s New Mexico ranch. Dershowitz tried to sue lawyers for suggesting he had sex with Giuffre, but settled the case in 2016 with all parties dropping their claims. His lawyers claimed victory, publishing an article stating that Giuffre’s lawyers “made a mistake in filing sexual misconduct charges”.

Giuffre’s lawyers responded publicly that:

It is a mistake for anyone to conclude based upon Mr. Dershowitz’s statements that the case against him was abandoned due to lack of factual support.

It seems Dershowitz has a book to sell. Trump would like a third term and has said he can’t have one. But he clearly enjoys throwing distractions, particularly to deflect continued outrage — even among his MAGA base — over his evasiveness about Epstein, an outcome that would also suit Dershowitz. Even more especially with new files about to come out.

It’s not hard to imagine why this story is being trailed to the US media again.
