After sustained direct action by anti-genocide activists, which began in early October, insurance giants Allianz and Aviva have ended the cover they provided Israel’s biggest weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems. This change was announced earlier today. It was communicated by a coalition of Palestine-adjacent protest groups.

Protesters have now turned their attention to Aspen Insurance, which provides employers’ liability insurance to Elbit, including a protest this morning outside Aspen’s London office, which resulted in environmental activist Greta Thunberg’s arrest.

According to direct action media group The Aftershock:

Aviva’s employment liability insurance coverage of UAV Engines Ltd came to an end on 7th September 2025. Allianz’s coverage of Elbit Systems UK ended on the 1st November 2025, replaced by Aspen Insurance.
