Israel redefines evil, massacring yet more starving civilians queuing for bread

An unspeakable crime

Israel has continued massacring starving civilians queuing for aid in Gaza. The latest attacks follow the Israeli military committing a mass shooting of Palestinians queuing for flour on 29 February, murdering at least 112 people.

On 3 March, Israel slaughtered dozens of people seeking aid at Kuwaiti roundabout in south Gaza City. These attacks are part of the state’s wider assault on people it already occupies.

As part of its response, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to allow aid trucks into Gaza. Israel finally lets a few through only to massacre the civilians who came to pick up the food.

The court order came after the ICJ recognised that there is a case for charging the state with the international crime of genocide.

Israel is already using starvation as a weapon, as Human Rights Watch notes. This is another crime under international law. Now it is murdering the civilians it is pretending to help.

“First human rights lawyer complicit in genocide”

On social media, people reacted to the barbarism:

“ The flour massacre” becomes “ The Flour massacres” https://t.co/GL7pXpZxSs

Israel commits atrocities with the complicity of Western leaders. Keir Starmer, for example, said it “has the right” to cut off basic services to Palestinian people, a form of collective punishment:

Keir Starmer will go down in history as first Human Rights lawyer to become complicit in genocide. Quite an accomplishment for an otherwise insignificant servant of power.

Under Joe Biden, meanwhile, the US used its power in the UN security council to veto a ceasefire in Gaza multiple times:

It's fine to withhold votes for Biden in protest of his genocide in Gaza, but the discourse around doing so often misses the point. A lot of US voters erroneously think they'd be punishing the Democrats by costing them the election, mistakenly assuming Dems care about winning.…

Israel: ‘intentionally starving’

UN experts commented on Israel attacking people while they receive aid:

Israel has been intentionally starving the Palestinian people in Gaza since 8 October. Now it is targeting civilians seeking humanitarian aid and humanitarian convoys… The attack came after Israel has denied humanitarian aid into Gaza City and northern Gaza for more than a month

Israel has a pattern of attacking civilians while they seek aid. There have been at least 14 incidents of the state targeting Palestinian people, through firing and shelling, according to the UN.

The in-motion genocide continues at a pace. We must resist the fascist violence of Israel and hold its backers to account.
