Green Party membership figures have risen to 215,000. This is an increase of over 150,000 since last year. The Labour Party, meanwhile, has lost at least 200,000 members under Keir Starmer’s right-wing rule. As it continues to slip behind the Greens in the polls, Labour’s panic is palpable.
The future is Green
The Greens’ ongoing membership surge comes after a massive by-election win where the party defeated both far-right Reform and Labour. And the Green Party put winning candidate and new MP Hannah Spencer front and centre when announcing that:
More than 2,000 people a day have joined us since our historic win in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
We've just hit 215,000 members.

After the by-election, a YouGov poll placed the Green Party as the second most popular, only two points behind Reform and five points in front of Labour. And with the US and Israel starting an illegal and unprovoked assault on Iran at the same time, the Greens’ clear opposition to the conflict has clearly chimed with the British public.
The Green Party has positioned itself as a bold, consistent alternative to a Labour–Tory–Reform establishment that has backed the US-Israeli assault. This is despite people in the UK strongly opposing the emerging quagmire, which has so far killed 1,230 people in Iran.

Establishment smears are failing
Green Party deputy leader Mothin Ali has attracted dangerous establishment smears for condemning the illegal assassination of Iran’s leader and the launch of a destructive, illegal war on the country.
Ali has received numerous death threats as a result of Labour-Tory comments in parliament equating his anti-war stance with support for Iran’s government.
This followed Labour using underhand tactics and lies during the recent by-election, and Keir Starmer doubling down on the idea that the peace-loving Greens were somehow ‘extreme‘. Sore loser Reform also tried to spread fear about the win, despite it successfully bringing together diverse communities.
With these divisive statements and dirty tricks, it’s little surprise that voters are most likely to vote AGAINST both Reform and Labour:
Tracking our negative voting intention (who would Britons vote AGAINST):
➡️ Ref 38% (+9)
🌹Lab 34% (-4)
🌳 Con 7% (-1)
🌏 Green 7% (+4)
🐦 LD 3% (-)

The corporate media has also been doing its best to counter the wave of support the Greens have been attracting. But the figures speak for themselves.
More and more people see the Greens as a real electoral alternative in favour of fairness and peace for everyone. And the excitement around that has already brought thousands and thousands more people into the party.
A few days ago we announced 200,000 members.

I am more concerned Liberals are not raising a bigger stink about Zack Polanski’s literally and publicly stated ties to so-called “liberal” zionism, because they’re more concerned about not upsetting the apple cart, than stopping a zionist infiltrator from hijacking the Green Party.
Conservatives in America experienced similarly when Trump non-stop ran BS campaigns insisting he was pro-peace, anti-war, would exit Ukraine in 24 hours, etc etc… only to find, surprise, he’s a dishonest, pro-warmongering zionist stooge.
Zack can pretend to be on our side, but his roots are in zionism and I’d rather someone who *doesn’t* have explicit ties to the racist ideology lead the Greens to success. Far too many times voters see someone pretending to be anti-zionist or anti-war or whatever only for them to pivot back to pro-zionist bullshit as soon as they gain power.
If you don’t remove the zionist infiltrator now, he’ll be permanently cemented in Number 10.
Is that a risk you want to take?
Long time Greens have certainly expressed concerns about how the party is being taken over by entryist cliques.
“Within the party, we are very proud of our democracy, even to the point that it might, in some cases, slow us down. This motion takes that democracy away from our members and gives all the power to those who already have significant opportunities to influence the way in which the party operates. Members are regularly critical of the democratic systems within the Labour party, but these changes are arguably worse than Labour’s democracy.”
Bright Green : “The Green Party has taken a big step away from democracy”
https://bright-green.org/2025/10/10/the-green-party-has-taken-a-big-step-away-from-democracy/
“In practical terms, and as evidenced in our two blog posts covering the Autumn 2025 Conference in Bournemouth, this means that 1600 self-appointed members out of 50000 – half with less than 2 months membership – approved key reports, major policy reviews, and voted for new policies and organisational changes with no accountability to anyone but themselves.
“Conference is not a delegates event, nor do attendees have to be known to their elected Local Party officers. They are free wheeling individuals with enormous power.”
The Green Light : ‘‘one member, one vote’ is an illusion of democracy’

The picture seems to be of a party whose structures make them vulnerable to take over – you have to wonder about all the ex-Labour councillors suddenly jumping ship now that they’ve realised that Starmer is a toxic brand to be associated with, although they were quite happy to be in his gang up untill now. Do any of them actually have any ‘green’ credentials (in which case why weren’t they Green members already ?) or are they opportunists ?
And Honest Zack – a Lib Dem until they didn’t give him a seat he wanted. Zionist infiltrator ? He certainly seems unwilling to criticize Israel in any meaningful way.
And of course Labour didn’t realise the extent of their own zionist infiltration until they elected a leader who was sympathetic towards the Palestinian cause.
these are issues The Canary ought to be investigating, but I suspect wont.
1. Zack Polanski is not a “Zionist infiltrator.”
Polanski has been publicly critical of the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza and has repeatedly called for:
• an immediate ceasefire
• an end to arms exports to Israel
• recognition of Palestinian statehood
• accountability under international law
Those are mainstream pro-Palestinian positions, and they’re on the record in speeches, interviews and Green Party statements.
Calling him a “Zionist stooge” just doesn’t match the public evidence.
2. Being Jewish ≠ being a Zionist conspirator.
Polanski has spoken openly about his Jewish heritage. Some people then jump from “Jewish background” to “secret Zionist infiltrator.” That leap is exactly the kind of thinking that has historically fuelled antisemitic conspiracy theories.
You can criticise any politician’s positions.
But claiming someone is secretly controlled by Zionism because of their roots isn’t evidence-based politics.
3. The Green Party of England and Wales sets policy — not one person.
Even if someone wanted to “pivot” on policy later, they couldn’t hijack the party:
• Policy is voted on by members at conference.
• Leaders are co-leaders or deputies, not presidential figures.
• MPs are accountable to the party and membership.
The Greens are one of the most member-controlled parties in the UK. There isn’t a mechanism for a single person to secretly flip the party’s foreign policy.
4. The “infiltration” framing just doesn’t fit UK politics.
Unlike the US system (where someone like Donald Trump could effectively take over a party), UK parties — especially the Greens — operate through member votes and conference policy.
If Polanski tried to change core policy, the membership could simply vote it down.
Bottom line:
There’s plenty to debate about Middle East policy, but the claim that Polanski is a secret Zionist infiltrator preparing to hijack the Green Party isn’t supported by evidence and misunderstands how the party actually works.
