Supporters of Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana’s new left-wing party are gearing up to gather in Glasgow on Friday 5 September. Uniting left-wing communities across the city, activists hope to build the first branch for supporters in Scotland.

Your Party Glasgow: public launch event this September

The new left-wing political party leading socialist MPs Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana are setting up is set to assemble next month in Glasgow.

Your Party has gathered more than 800,000 sign-ups – including many in Glasgow and across Scotland.

Now, local supporters are encouraging others in the city to play their part and join the new party at a public launch event.

The Glasgow branch hopes to become the first for the new party established in Scotland.

Your Party Glasgow will hold a public assembly and social in the city’s Renfield Centre on Friday 5 September from 6.30pm.

This is ‘only the beginning’: supporters in Scotland to unite to build the new left

In a founding statement, Your Party Glasgow wrote:

Glaswegians are champing at the bit for change. We are ready to play our part in building a new democracy from the grassroots up. This means not only how society is run but also how our party is built. It must be democratic, accountable and rooted in communities and for the working class.

What unites us are shared principles and common struggles. We believe in equality, solidarity, democracy and justice. From these socialist principles come the fights we must take on: against capitalism, social injustice, genocide and war. We stand in defence of public services for the many, with grassroots power at its heart.

We agree that Glasgow, Scotland and all other regions and branches should bear equitable responsibilities, have organisational and decision making autonomy, and recognise the need to build bridges and a working partnership across the left.

This is only the beginning. We know there are more folk out there just as passionate about real change. We want you with us. It’s Your Party after all!
