Trump endorses ethnic cleansing of Gaza and the ‘mainstream’ media ignore it

On Monday 29 December, Donald Trump met wanted Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu at his estate in Florida. Netanyahu arrived in the US via the airspace of three signatory nations to the International Criminal Court (ICC). All three ignored their binding obligation under international law to stop and arrest him on the ICC’s arrest warrant.

Meanwhile, the western ‘mainstream’ media are no less eager to pretend what the pair discussed during their meeting didn’t happen.

Trump gave his open endorsement to the illegal forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza. This is an unequivocal war crime, yet the BBC and other media in the UK and US ignored it.

The BBC’s headline, for example, was that the pair’s “focus turns to Middle East issues“. The article body contained not one mention of the planned ‘voluntary’ expulsion of Palestinians. Trump said after the meeting that:

More than half of Gaza will leave if given the opportunity.

He claimed that this would be in search of “a better climate”; a sick joke when Israel is forcing Palestinians to freeze, starve and drown in bitter winter weather. The BBC’s coverage was silent on this – and the top of Google’s search results for news shows an ‘MSM’ desert:

The BBC, instead of reporting on the ethnic cleansing, framed the issue as the “crucial” need to break “the current impasse”.

Trump also praised Netanyahu for Israel “living up to the [ceasefire] 100 percent”. Israel has violently murdered 420 Palestinians and wounded thousands during the ‘ceasefire’. It has ignored its obligations to allow free entry of food, medicines, fuel and shelters, killing more civilians, especially children. In total, almost a thousand Israeli  violations have been logged, while Israel also broke its ceasefire with Lebanon repeatedly.

Trump, his predecessors in the White House, and successive British governments, have applauded and assisted in genocide and ethnic cleansing. Now they’re not even bothering to try to disguise it, while the ‘mainstream’ media break out yet another tanker of whitewash.
