Reform candidate comes out as a cringe, Trump suck-up

It’s hard to know where to start with this one.

I suppose we’ll just show you what Reform London mayoral candidate Laila Cunningham posted and ask: ‘do you have any idea what this is all about?‘:

Choose a new path for London.

— Laila Cunningham (@policylaila) January 25, 2026

Jesus wept

Cunningham is referencing the following meme from US president Donald Trump, which is his latest way of saying ‘baby wants Greenland‘:

Have a day off. pic.twitter.com/gckuztv1sJ

— Tory Fibs (@ToryFibs) January 24, 2026

As we covered yesterday, this meme is ridiculous for the following reasons:

  1. As noted, there are no penguins in Greenland.
  2. Greenland has made it clear they oppose the US taking them over, making this an ’embrace’ of the non-consensual variety.
  3. It’s a meme and you’re the president; grow up.

We argued yesterday this meme makes no sense. And it doesn’t. And yet somehow Cunningham’s version makes even less sense.

Put yourself in the mind of your average voter.

They look at an image of Laila Cunningham wandering across a frozen London with a penguin. The message with it reads ‘choose a new path’.

Do you think they’re going to choose this post-apocalyptic snowscape?

Or do you think they’re going to wonder ‘is this woman on drugs‘?

If a voter does understand what they’re looking at, it opens up even more problems for Cunningham:

  • Trump is a convicted sexual assaulter who is currently running cover for the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein; allegedly because it will ‘hurt his friends‘. Cunningham, meanwhile, claims to be a defender of women.
  • The meme references Trump’s intention to take over Greenland; something which is incredibly unpopular in the UK.
  • Cunningham is running on a platform of making London safer, whereas Trump is currently sending masked goons into US cities and giving them immunity to murder ordinary citizens.
  • It’s a meme and you’re running to be the mayor of the world’s most famous city; grow up.

Reform — not so ‘cunning’

We’re surprised to be saying this given that Lee Anderson is in the party, but Laila Cunningham may actually be the stupidest politician Reform have.

If she thinks she’s going to turn London far right by posting rehashed memes from the dying brain of an orange sex offender, she may actually be the stupidest person in the country.
