On a historic night marked by determination, the Palestinian national team secured qualification for the quarter finals of the 2025 Arab Cup for the first time in its history, topping Group A with five points, ahead of Syria on goal difference, while Tunisia came third and Qatar fourth.

An exceptional Palestinian journey in a heated group of the Arab Cup

Palestine began the tournament with a valuable 2-2 draw against Tunisia, after a heroic comeback from two goals down, before achieving a historic 1-0 victory over Qatar in the 91st minute, entering the final match against Syria with confidence and determination to secure a place in the next round.

In this Arab Cup showdown, Palestine and Syria played out a goalless draw in a match in which both teams showed great respect for each other’s desire to reach the next round.

In the second match of the same round, Tunisia achieved a narrow 2-0 victory over Qatar, settling for third place despite their late awakening, while Qatar remained in fourth place with one point.

The Palestinian team topped Group A with five points from one win and two draws, excelling in performance, resilience and the huge crowd that accompanied them in the Qatari stadiums, where the matches turned into platforms of support for Palestine and its cause.

Syria, which performed consistently and steadily, finished second with the same number of points, while Tunisia paid the price for its first defeat against Syria, despite its final victory over Qatar.

The Palestinian and Syrian teams are waiting for the completion of the Group B Arab Cup matches to determine the quarter-final match-ups, at a time when observers believe that the Fedayeen are entering the next stage with an unprecedented spirit and a crowd and morale boost that rivals that of any competing team.

Palestine’s qualification was not just a sporting achievement, but an expression of the will of a people who insist on joy amid their pain. The sight of the crowds shaking the stands with flags, tears and cheers was a reflection of a historic moment whose symbolism transcended the boundaries of the green rectangle.
